NICO-FTP 3.0.1.19 contains a structured exception handler buffer overflow vulnerability that allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by sending crafted FTP commands. Attackers can connect to the FTP service and send oversized data in response handlers to overwrite SEH pointers and redirect execution to injected shellcode.

The FTP (aka "Implementation of a simple FTP client and server") project through 96c1a35 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory consumption) by engaging in client activity, such as establishing and then terminating a connection. This occurs because malloc is used but free is not.

options.c in atftp before 0.7.5 reads past the end of an array, and consequently discloses server-side /etc/group data to a remote client.

An issue was discovered in rovinbhandari FTP through 2012-03-28. receive_file in file_transfer_functions.c allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (daemon crash) via a 0xffff datalen field value.

An issue was discovered in atftpd in atftp 0.7.1. A remote attacker may send a crafted packet triggering a stack-based buffer overflow due to an insecurely implemented strncpy call. The vulnerability is triggered by sending an error packet of 3 bytes or fewer. There are multiple instances of this vulnerable strncpy pattern within the code base, specifically within tftpd_file.c, tftp_file.c, tftpd_mtftp.c, and tftp_mtftp.c.

In Tinyftp Tinyftpd 1.1, a buffer overflow exists in the text variable of the do_mkd function in the ftpproto.c file. An attacker can overwrite ebp via a long pathname.

It has been discovered that lftp up to and including version 4.8.3 does not properly sanitize remote file names, leading to a loss of integrity on the local system when reverse mirroring is used. A remote attacker may trick a user to use reverse mirroring on an attacker controlled FTP server, resulting in the removal of all files in the current working directory of the victim's system.
