This is Behind the Blog, where we share our behind-the-scenes thoughts about how a few of our top stories of the week came together. This week, we discuss AI-generated cartoon terrorism, ticket reseller shenanigans, and a bombshell government report.
SAM: I wrote a story earlier this week about Microsoft’s generative AI image creator and how I and others easily make tons of images of SpongeBob flying a plane at the twin towers. I actually have no problem with people making memes where a video game character does a terrorism. I made like, 50 images of Disney and Nintendo characters smiling and laughing while doing heinous shit, just to see if I could. Kirby sitting in the cockpit of a plane with skyscrapers out the windshield is my desktop background right now. I’m sipping coffee and looking at it on my second monitor.
