This is Behind the Blog, where we share our behind-the-scenes thoughts about how a few of our top stories of the week came together. This week, we discuss crushing and publishing stories and what goes into reporting on a leak.
EMANUEL: Hopefully you will not be able to tell but for the next few weeks are a little hectic for us at 404 Media. Jason is on vacation, I will be soon, Joe is at Def Con, Sam and Jason will travel to Portland for XOXO, and then we have our anniversary party in New York on September 5. On top of all that, we’re tinkering with the podcast workflow in a way we hope will significantly improve its quality and save us time, working on stories as always, and making plans for year two of 404 Media.
My vacation starts next week, right after I teach one day of the Big Tech Investigation Lab, which I’ve been preparing for the last few weeks. It has an impressive lineup of teachers and an equally impressive group of participants, so I was honored the workshop organizers at El Clip and Núcleo invited 404 Media to share what we have learned over the years.
