This is Behind the Blog, where we share our behind-the-scenes thoughts about how a few of our top stories of the week came together. This week, we talk about our first jobs, personality tests, and what it means to be "profitable."

EMANUEL: We’ve been aware of Ash, the blue humanoid alien and the star of Paradox.ai’s Traitify personality quiz that people across the country have to interact with when they apply for service jobs, for a few weeks now. We weren’t sure if and how to cover since the AI part of Paradox’s offering wasn’t key to the story, and personality quizzes during the hiring process are nothing new. Eventually we decided it was important to highlight how ridiculous this particular test is, especially because it’s being used by some of the biggest companies and employers in the country.

Once we published it became immediately obvious that this was the right call. The many, many, many, many, many, many, many people who had to take this test, or tests like it, picked up the story and shared it along with their own experiences.
