Brazil police arrest big phishing gang

The Brazilian police is reporting that they have made a nice bust.

They have arrested 55 people belonging to a phishing gang. 330 policemen were involved in this case and they are still searching for another 10 criminals.

The police have estimated that the criminals looted the accounts of 200 people, making $4.6 million in total.

How did they obtain the banking information? By sending the victims emails containing a Trojan-Spy.

The group has been sending these emails since May 2005.

It’s interesting that 9 out of the 55 arrested are minors, and the leader of the group is only 19. This case shows, once again, that age doesn’t really matter in cyberspace.
