Emerald AI, Google and NVIDIA Launch Alliance to Advance Flexible AI Data Centers

Emerald AI, Google, and NVIDIA launched the AI Energy Management Alliance to promote power-flexible, grid-responsive AI data centers.

Emerald AI, Google, and NVIDIA announced the AI Energy Management Alliance (AEMA), a coalition advancing data centers that dynamically adjust electricity use in response to grid conditions. The technology-neutral, performance-based alliance will standardize flexibility requirements, define ride-through and curtailment obligations, and create faster interconnection pathways for facilities making verifiable flexibility commitments. It plans to convene AI platforms, data center operators, utilities, power producers, and grid operators to support US AI infrastructure growth.

‘Now We Can Know Everything and Do Anything,’ Jensen Huang Says at Dreamforce

Salesforce unveiled Koa, its first CRM reasoning model post-trained on NVIDIA Nemotron 3 Super, announced during Jensen Huang's Dreamforce keynote.

At Salesforce Dreamforce, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang joined Marc Benioff onstage as Salesforce announced Koa, its first CRM reasoning model, post-trained from NVIDIA Nemotron 3 Super using NeMo RL, NeMo Gym, and NeMo AutoModel. Koa was fine-tuned on a proprietary synthetic dataset drawn from nearly three decades of enterprise CRM deployments across 14+ industries, with no customer data used in training or inference. On Salesforce's CRM Bench of real-world tasks, Koa matches or exceeds leading model performance on CRM actions with 3x fewer errors. Koa already powers an employee agent in Slack, enters customer pilots in October with Formula 1, UChicago Medicine, Baxter Credit Union, 1-800Accountant, Engine, and Xero, and reaches general availability in Winter 2026 in U.S. regions.

Distance generalization in transformers: why bother with positional encoding?

arXiv study uses synthetic delay-copy tasks to show how RoPE, ALiBi, NoPE and training data diversity affect transformers' distance generalization.

The paper studies distance generalization in transformers: extrapolating when inter-token distances change between training and inference while context length stays fixed. Using two synthetic delay-copy tasks with finite source-recall distances, the authors test models on unseen delays. They investigate whether positional encodings such as RoPE and ALiBi outperform no positional encoding (NoPE), how the diversity of training distances affects performance, and when distance transfer learning is positive or negative.

Bipartisan Senate bill aims to prepare energy sector for Q

Bipartisan Senate bill would direct FERC to factor quantum computing threats and post-quantum cryptography into US electric grid cybersecurity reliability standards.

The Quantum Grid Utility Assurance and Resilient Defense (Quantum-GUARD) Act, introduced by Senators Mike Rounds and Chris Coons, would require FERC to consider quantum computing threats when reviewing electric reliability standards and to explore post-quantum cryptography use in both IT and OT systems, plus a technical sandbox to study quantum impacts. It aligns with NIST's post-quantum algorithm work, and a June executive order moved the federal PQC migration deadline from 2035 to 2030. Industry experts noted the hard part is upgrading infrastructure such as SCADA communications and software update integrity ahead of those deadlines.
