CISA warns NextGen Healthcare Mirth Connect <=4.7.1 has SQL injection and XXE flaws enabling credential theft, file writes, and DoS.

CISA released advisory ICSMA-26-253-01 covering three vulnerabilities in NextGen Healthcare Mirth Connect versions 4.7.1 and earlier: SQL injection CVE-2026-82583 (CVSS 8.3), XXE CVE-2026-78224 (CVSS 8.2), and XXE CVE-2026-82578 (CVSS 7.5). Exploitation could expose stored credentials for connected systems, enable arbitrary file writes, and cause denial-of-service conditions. No public exploitation has been reported; the product is deployed worldwide in the Healthcare and Public Health sector.

Ubuntu patches SimpleSAMLphp signature validation and XXE flaws enabling user impersonation, privilege escalation, and information disclosure.

Ubuntu security notice USN-8770-1 fixes multiple SimpleSAMLphp vulnerabilities. CVE-2019-3465 stems from incorrect cryptographic signature validation in XML messages, allowing an authenticated attacker to impersonate users or gain elevated privileges; it only affected Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and 18.04 LTS. CVE-2024-52596 involves improper handling of external entities when parsing untrusted XML, allowing a remote attacker to obtain sensitive information, and did not affect Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. An additional flaw in signature verification for SAML messages using the HTTP-Redirect binding is also addressed.

Multiple vulnerabilities in Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) and Cisco ISE Passive Identity Connector (ISE-PIC) could allow a remote attacker to bypass authentication to the REST API, achieve remote code execution, perform SQL injection, and conduct XML External Entity injection attacks. Cisco has released software updates; no workarounds address these vulnerabilities.

Microsoft Confirms KB5002914 Update Breaks Copy and Paste on Excel

Microsoft confirms KB5002914 Excel security update silently breaks copy-paste in Excel 2016-2024, forcing admins to choose between usability and security fixes.

Microsoft added a known issue to KB5002914, the September 8, 2026 Excel security update, where paste, autofill, and formula dragging fail silently with no error in Excel 2016, 2019, 2021, and 2024. The update addresses remote code execution and information disclosure flaws including CVE-2026-81399, CVE-2026-81390, and CVE-2026-81954. No hotfix date has been published as of September 15, 2026; the only widely confirmed recovery is uninstalling or rolling back KB5002914, which drops the month's Excel security fixes.

USN-8744-1: Python vulnerabilities

Ubuntu issued USN-8744-1 fixing CVE-2026-3644, a Python http.cookies content-injection flaw, plus a pyexpat recursion DoS across six Ubuntu LTS releases.

Ubuntu published security notice USN-8744-1 addressing two Python vulnerabilities affecting Ubuntu 14.04 LTS through 24.04 LTS. CVE-2026-3644 concerns incorrect handling of control characters in the http.cookies module, which could allow an attacker to inject arbitrary content. The second issue involves unbounded recursion in the Expat XML parser reached via the pyexpat module, which could crash Python and cause a denial of service. Updated packages are available; no exploitation in the wild is reported.

Palo Alto Networks security advisory (AV26-905)

Canada's Cyber Centre relayed Palo Alto Networks advisories covering PAN-OS, Cloud NGFW, Prisma Access, and Prisma Browser vulnerabilities, including PAN-OS CVE-2026-0310 buffer overflow.

The Canadian Centre for Cyber Security issued advisory AV26-905, noting that as of September 10, 2026, multiple Palo Alto Networks products are affected by vulnerabilities.
