Oracle released its August 2026 Critical Security Patch Update on August 18, addressing 925 unique CVEs with 943 security updates. 154 issues (16.3%) carry a critical severity rating. Oracle Fusion Middleware received the most patches at 262, accounting for 27.8% of the total. Oracle introduced the monthly CSPU cycle in May 2026 as an interim release between quarterly Critical Patch Updates.

The Canadian Centre for Cyber Security (AV26-929) relays Oracle's September 2026 Critical Security Patch Update, which addresses vulnerabilities in dozens of product families as of September 15, 2026. Affected products include Oracle WebLogic Server, Database Server, E-Business Suite, Fusion Middleware, PeopleSoft Enterprise, Siebel Applications, GraalVM, VirtualBox, Coherence, and numerous banking and communications suites. The bulletin lists no CVE identifiers and encourages administrators to review Oracle's advisory and apply patches.

September 2026 Patch Tuesday forecast expects record CVE volume after August's 398 fixes, with SharePoint flaws CVE-2026-55040 and CVE-2026-63520 actively exploited.

This Patch Tuesday forecast column notes August 2026 Patch Tuesday was the second largest ever with 398 resolved CVEs, yet only one was confirmed actively exploited. SharePoint flaws CVE-2026-55040 and CVE-2026-63520 are being chained for authentication bypass and remote code execution in active attacks against unpatched servers. Microsoft Defender's ShieldBreak elevation of privilege flaw (CVE-2026-69414) is publicly disclosed with PoC code and a fix is expected, while Chrome CVE-2026-85046 was reported exploited in the wild. Several products, including Windows 11 24H2 Home/Pro and Exchange Server 2016/2019 ESU, reach end of support in October 2026.

Chipmaker Patch Tuesday: Nvidia, AMD, Arm Issue Security Advisories

AMD, Arm, and Nvidia issued Patch Tuesday advisories fixing a Linux GPU driver DoS flaw, nine Mali GPU vulnerabilities, and two high-severity Triton defects.

AMD fixed CVE-2026-43603, a NULL pointer dereference in its Linux GPU kernel driver that can crash systems and cause denial-of-service, credited to SecMate researchers, with patches for EPYC, Ryzen, Radeon, and Instinct shipped in July and embedded variants due in October. Arm published an advisory covering nine Mali GPU vulnerabilities allowing use-after-free access, kernel information leaks, or DoS, releasing fixes for Valhall and 5th Gen GPU Architecture drivers, with Bifrost also affected. Nvidia updated Triton Inference Server for Linux to resolve two high-severity flaws, one causing DoS and one enabling information disclosure, data tampering, and DoS. Intel had issued no new advisories since the previous Patch Tuesday.
