Crusoe reportedly raises $3B at a $30B valuation

AI data center developer Crusoe raised $3 billion at a $30 billion valuation, plus a $13 billion five-year GPU contract with Jane Street.

Crusoe, which builds hyperscale data centers for customers including Meta, Microsoft, OpenAI, and Oracle, raised a $3 billion round at a $30 billion valuation, Bloomberg reported. The round was co-led by Atreides Management and Valor Equity Partners with participation from Mubadala Capital. It comes 10 months after a $1.38 billion raise at a $10 billion valuation and follows a $13 billion, five-year cloud contract supplying GPUs and AI infrastructure to trading firm Jane Street. The company has met with Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley about a potential near-term IPO.

NVIDIA to Acquire Hugging Face

NVIDIA agreed to acquire Hugging Face for $12.93 billion while pledging to keep the platform open, multi-cloud and vendor-neutral.

NVIDIA announced an agreement to acquire Hugging Face for $12,930,300,000. Hugging Face hosts more than 3 million models, 500,000 datasets and 1 million applications used by over 18 million developers and 200,000 companies. NVIDIA says the platform will remain open, with no requirement to use NVIDIA compute, and will continue supporting multi-cloud and multi-accelerator development and deployment. NVIDIA is already Hugging Face's largest contributor of open models and datasets, with more than 500 models and 250 open datasets released.

Google DeepMind announced the Fairwind Program, a limited-access offering giving Google Cloud customers, government agencies, and cybersecurity partners access to Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber and the CodeMender harness to autonomously find, verify, and fix vulnerabilities. Initial access prioritizes governments, critical infrastructure operators in healthcare, telecom, energy, and finance, and core technology platforms, with over 650 partners participating. Google also raised its total global cybersecurity funding commitment above $100 million, including $36 million for 35 US cyber clinics.

OpenAI unveiled Jalapeno custom inference chip claiming 1.5-1.9x better perf-per-watt than NVIDIA GB200/GB300, deploying in-house by year-end.

At the 37th Hot Chips conference, OpenAI published first benchmark details for its custom Jalapeno inference chip, claiming 1.5-1.9x more work per watt, 1.7-3.6x lower end-to-end latency, and 2.1-4.1x higher interactive-workload performance versus NVIDIA GB200/GB300, with the 700W-rated part staying at or below 550W in tests. Deployment into OpenAI's own infrastructure begins by year-end, with Gen 2 deep in development and Gen 3 underway. OpenAI also said GPT-Astra and Codex helped write low-level kernels, reportedly 1.5-1.8x faster than human-expert code for selected attention and MoE blocks. Cerebras CS-5, Groq 3 LPX and Apple M6 were also featured at the conference.

The platform hosts about 3 million primarily open AI models, 500,000 datasets, and 1 million AI applications, used by more than 200,000 companies and 18 million developers. Nvidia pledged Hugging Face will remain an open platform and keep its brand; the startup previously declined a $500 million Nvidia investment to avoid a dominant investor. The deal supports Nvidia's open-weights strategy, alongside backing for Reflection AI, CoreWeave, and Nebius.

Meta released Muse, a personal AI agent from Meta Superintelligence Labs that automates tasks such as sending email, booking travel, and making purchases, accessible via a dedicated app, Muse.ai, and WhatsApp. The agent runs in a Secure VM architecture that isolates untrusted web and integration data from the action-taking component, with a Sentinel system that routes human-in-the-loop approval prompts directly to users to resist prompt injection. Purchases use Stripe's Link single-use card numbers with no-fee return protections, and a future Confidential VM co-developed with Moxie Marlinspike will run in trusted execution environments with user-held keys. Meta added Muse to its public bug bounty with payouts up to $300,000, including up to $130,000 for single-user prompt injection findings.
