Underwriting Superintelligence: Backing Agents you can Sue — Rune Kvist, AIUC

AIUC raised a $40 million Series A to build AIUC-1, an agent security standard backed by insurance, serving Cursor, Harvey, Lovable, and ElevenLabs.

AIUC, cofounded by former Anthropic product hire Rune Kvist, announced a $40 million Series A led by Ribbit Capital and First Harmonic. The startup builds AIUC-1, an emerging standard for agent security, safety, and reliability, stress-testing agents for jailbreaks, hallucinations, and data leaks. It pairs standards with insurance underwriting through Lloyd's of London and counts Cursor, Harvey, Lovable, and ElevenLabs among its customers. Kvist argues trust and liability, not capability, are becoming the binding constraint on AI adoption.

The AI graveyard: a running list of projects and startups that didn’t make it

TechCrunch compiles a running list of failed AI products and startups, including Relay, OpenAI's Sora, Humane AI Pin, Notion Mail, and Microsoft's Recall.

TechCrunch's 'AI graveyard' tracks notable AI products and startups that shut down or underperformed, citing S&P Global data that about 42% of AI initiatives are abandoned. Examples include the Relay automation startup, OpenAI's Sora video platform (shut March 2026), ChatGPT Atlas browser (discontinued August 9), Notion Mail (shutting September 22), and Apple's delayed Siri AI that contributed to a $250 million settlement. Hardware failures include the Humane AI Pin ($230 million raised, assets sold to HP for $116 million) and the Rabbit R1, which sold 100,000 units but received poor reviews. Microsoft's Recall feature remains controversial after a researcher demonstrated a tool extracting its captured data.

AI safety panic goes mainstream after Anthropic researcher's warnings land on CNN and Fox News

Departing Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon's AI extinction warnings reached CNN, Fox News, and US politicians, pushing AI safety debate mainstream.

Jacob Coxon, a departing Anthropic researcher, warned that self-improving AI poses an existential threat, earning coverage on CNN and Fox News plus attention from US politicians and a Joe Rogan episode. Safety researchers at Anthropic and OpenAI supported his views, and Paul Christiano warned humanity could permanently lose control of a superintelligence without better oversight. Christiano joined the OpenAI Foundation board and its Safety and Security Committee, though without voting rights. The article cautions that the extinction scenario remains extreme and contested, while citing rogue hacking agents from OpenAI and Anthropic as concrete demonstrations of AI risk.

Anthropic’s $2 trillion IPO puts powerful external trustees in spotlight

Anthropic's $2 trillion IPO spotlights its external trustee governance, removable only by an 85% shareholder supermajority that may shift post-listing.

Anthropic's reported $2 trillion IPO is drawing scrutiny of its unusual governance, in which external trustees guard the company's mission and can only be removed with 85% shareholder voting power, a threshold that could change once it goes public. Compared with OpenAI's 2023 board crisis, Anthropic's structure is seen as less risky because it includes a built-in mechanism for shareholder intervention. Early investors knowingly backed the structure, citing its safety emphasis, but experts including Harvard's Fried urge public-market investors to scrutinize and price these arrangements before IPOs.

AI Generated 3D Models Flood Market, But Almost No One Is Buying Them

CGTrader reports AI-generated 3D models are one in six uploads but earn only $1 of every $90 in marketplace revenue.

CGTrader's 2026 market trends report, based on data from June 2025 to May 2026, found that one in six models uploaded to its marketplace is AI-generated while AI assets capture only about 1% of revenue ($1 of every $90). Buyers ranked quality above price as their top purchase factor, and most AI asset purchasers reported dissatisfaction. CGTrader, which partners with Tencent on an AI-accelerated 3D creation workflow, says rising AI upload volume is creating discoverability challenges for human artists.
