Salesforce and Nvidia’s new reasoning model is everything the AI labs should fear

Salesforce and Nvidia launch Koa, Salesforce's first reasoning model, built on Nvidia's open-weight Nemotron and post-trained on synthetic sales and support data.

Salesforce announced Koa at Dreamforce, its first reasoning model, built on Nvidia's open-weight Nemotron and post-trained with synthetic data mimicking sales and customer-support scenarios rather than real customer data. Koa will be offered through the Agentforce platform's AI gateway as a cheaper, token-efficient alternative to closed frontier models like Claude and ChatGPT for enterprise tasks. Salesforce simultaneously announced a ClaudeForce partnership with Anthropic keeping customer data inside Salesforce's infrastructure.

Atria Dawn: The Dawn of Agentic Superintelligence

Atria Dawn Preview, an agentic foundation model trained on verifiable experiences, tops five of 16 research and engineering benchmarks.

Atria Dawn Preview is a foundation agentic language model for scientific research and engineering workflows, trained via a Verifiable Experience Pipeline connecting tool-mediated interactions to executable environments and externally verified outcomes. Across 16 benchmarks spanning research, engineering, and digital work it is competitive with frontier agents and achieves the highest reported score on five of them. The release includes a human-AI collaboration case study analyzing 769 task records from 56 participants, where about one-third of completed AI-assisted tasks were rated infeasible without AI and agents frequently proposed methods and implemented revisions while humans retained final decisions.

Iris-mini and Iris-pro are the strongest open-weight search agents in their class

Chinese lab AllSpark releases Iris-mini (35B) and Iris-pro (397B) open-weight search agents claiming best-in-class results on BrowseComp and other research benchmarks.

AllSpark's paper introduces Iris-mini (35B parameters, built on Qwen3.6-35B-A3B) and Iris-pro (397B parameters, built on Qwen3.5-397B-A17B), both with 256,000-token context windows. Iris-pro scores 88.6 on BrowseComp, 85.1 on BrowseComp-ZH, 92.9 on DeepSearchQA, and 56.4 on Humanity's Last Exam; Iris-mini reaches 82.2, 84.8, 86.9, and 52.3 respectively. Training tasks are reverse-engineered from web link structure, filtered by a judge model, and refined via alternating SFT and reinforcement learning ('SFT-RL climbing') against live web search. Weights are available on Hugging Face, and the Iris Harness with agent loop, tools, and all four benchmarks is on GitHub.

GPT-6 Astra, Looped Transformers, and Hidden Reasoning

OpenAI released GPT-6 Astra, its strongest model to date, with standout 3D rendering and computer-use performance and 99.9% on ARC-AGI-3.

Sebastian Raschka reviews OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra, calling it the best model he has used, with disproportionate gains in 3D rendering, animation, and computer use through the Codex/ChatGPT harness. The model scores 99.9% on ARC-AGI-3 versus 7.8% for GPT-5.6 Sol and leads the Artificial Analysis Coding Agent Index, though gains on independent aggregate indices are more incremental. The article also explains looped transformer/recurrent depth architecture rumors, speculation that Astra hides its chain-of-thought reasoning, and recent research insights on the topic.

[AINews] DeepSeek v4.1-Flash: 763B-P8B-D16B novel causal Encoder–Decoder architecture with vision marks the Return of the Whale

DeepSeek released V4.1-Flash, an open-weight 763B-parameter model with a novel causal encoder-decoder architecture, 1M context, vision input, and MIT license.

DeepSeek launched V4.1-Flash, an open-weight MIT-licensed model using a novel causal encoder-decoder architecture with 763B total parameters and asymmetric active parameters: 8B for prefill and 16B for decode. It supports 1M-token context and text+image input, priced at $0.30 per 1M input and $1.20 per 1M output tokens with a 50% off-peak discount. Artificial Analysis scored it 40 on its Intelligence Index, above DeepSeek V4 Pro 0813, and Vals ranked it the #1 open-weight model ahead of Kimi K3. Baseten shipped day-0 support and Ollama began rolling it out to paid subscribers.

deepseek-ai/DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash — new model trending #28 on Hugging Face

DeepSeek releases DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash, a 552B-parameter multimodal MoE model with 1M-token context and KV cache cut to 890 bytes per token.

DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash is a multimodal Mixture-of-Experts model with a 552B-parameter backbone that activates 8B parameters per token during prefill and 16B during decode. It uses a Causal Encoder-Decoder architecture, Compressed Sparse Attention 2, and FP4 KV caching to reduce the global KV cache footprint to 890 bytes per token, roughly one quarter of DeepSeek-V4-Flash. The model was trained from scratch on 45T tokens with context extended to 1M tokens, includes an Engram conditional-memory module (196B parameters), and is released under the MIT license. Post-training uses SFT, RL, and on-policy distillation with large-scale automated synthesis of agentic tasks and a controllable reasoning effort setting from 1 to 100.

OpenAI's GPT-Live-1 API lets developers build apps that talk and listen at the same time

OpenAI's GPT-Live-1 API enables full-duplex speech apps, outperforming GPT-Realtime-2.1 with 0.8s turn-taking latency at $0.05 per minute.

OpenAI released GPT-Live-1 as a developer API for full-duplex speech, allowing applications to listen and talk simultaneously; it already powers ChatGPT voice. Benchmarks show 80.1% on full-duplex interactivity versus 45.4% for GPT-Realtime-2.1, turn-taking latency of 0.8 seconds versus 1.4 seconds, tool-calling accuracy of 87% versus 60%, and a 32% pass rate on a banking voice-support benchmark versus 12.4%. The model costs $0.05 per minute, ships twelve new voices, provides ASR transcripts and response text, and is already in production at Yelp for phone-based reservations.

New Deepseek model V4.1-Flash cuts memory needs for AI agents

DeepSeek released V4.1-Flash, a 552B-parameter open-weight model cutting KV cache needs to a quarter of its predecessor for cheaper million-token AI agents.

DeepSeek released V4.1-Flash, a multimodal model with 552 billion total parameters and 1 million-token context, trained from scratch on 45 trillion tokens of text and images. The model reduces KV cache footprint to about a quarter of DeepSeek-V4-Flash in fast GPU memory and one-eighth offloaded, and 437x smaller per token than DeepSeek-V1, via an encoder/decoder split, 8-16B active parameters per token, and FP4 cache storage. It scores 74.2% on DeepSWE v1.1, narrowly beating Anthropic Opus 5 and OpenAI GPT-5.6 Sol, with gains attributed to data and RL scaling rather than new algorithms. Weights are on Hugging Face under MIT license, also served via API at V4-Flash prices.
