Salesforce and Nvidia’s new reasoning model is everything the AI labs should fear

Salesforce and Nvidia launch Koa, Salesforce's first reasoning model, built on Nvidia's open-weight Nemotron and post-trained on synthetic sales and support data.

Salesforce announced Koa at Dreamforce, its first reasoning model, built on Nvidia's open-weight Nemotron and post-trained with synthetic data mimicking sales and customer-support scenarios rather than real customer data. Koa will be offered through the Agentforce platform's AI gateway as a cheaper, token-efficient alternative to closed frontier models like Claude and ChatGPT for enterprise tasks. Salesforce simultaneously announced a ClaudeForce partnership with Anthropic keeping customer data inside Salesforce's infrastructure.

ZGCM-1: A Fully Open and Extremely Efficient Foundation Model for Math and Agentic Search

ZGCM-1 is a fully open 7B foundation model with 256K context that stays competitive with frontier models on math reasoning and agentic search.

ZGCM-1 is a fully open 7B dense foundation model trained from scratch using an efficiency-focused recipe: interleaved gated sliding-window and full attention, a stable FP8 Muon optimizer, and MDP-based mid-training with context scaling across 16K, 64K, and 256K. On mathematical reasoning and agentic search suites it remains competitive with much larger frontier models such as Qwen3-235B-A22B and GLM-5.1. The recipe yields a ~4.2x improvement in 16K pre-training time-to-loss, and all weights, checkpoints, training code, data recipes, and W&B logs are open-sourced.

Jev: New frontier model 40-400x cheaper and 20-200x faster

TypeSafe AI launches Jev, an early-access 'System One' model delivering calibrated structured outputs claimed 40-400x faster and cheaper than LLMs.

TypeSafe AI, founded by former OpenAI researcher Diogo Almeida, released its first 'System One Model' called Jev in early access. Jev forgoes string generation and is trained with Reinforcement Learning for Calibrated Decisions (RLCD) to produce type-safe structured values with calibrated probabilities. The company claims 70-500ms response times (40-200x faster), input pricing of $0.042 per million tokens, and free output tokens via a parallel sampling architecture. Target use cases include AI-powered workflows, real-time applications, and verification/guardrail tasks.

Sakana AI Launches Fugu Max and Fugu Ultra v2 for Cheaper, Stronger Multi-Agent Orchestration

Sakana AI released Fugu Max and Fugu Ultra v2, API-only orchestrator models that route tasks across model pools to cut costs and boost multi-step reasoning.

Sakana AI released Fugu Max and Fugu Ultra v2, two orchestrator models that route queries across a pool of third-party and open-weights models, including the NVIDIA Nemotron family. Fugu Max is priced at $2 per million input and $6 per million output tokens, 40-60% cheaper per output token than Sonnet 5, GPT 5.6 Terra, and Kimi K3, and reportedly wins 6 benchmarks including Terminal Bench 2.1 and GPQA Diamond. Fugu Ultra v2 targets complex multi-step reasoning, scoring 48.3 on Chartography and 74.3 on DeepSWE. Both are live through Sakana's OpenAI-compatible API only, with no open weights and no EU/EEA availability.

Iris-mini and Iris-pro are the strongest open-weight search agents in their class

Chinese lab AllSpark releases Iris-mini (35B) and Iris-pro (397B) open-weight search agents claiming best-in-class results on BrowseComp and other research benchmarks.

AllSpark's paper introduces Iris-mini (35B parameters, built on Qwen3.6-35B-A3B) and Iris-pro (397B parameters, built on Qwen3.5-397B-A17B), both with 256,000-token context windows. Iris-pro scores 88.6 on BrowseComp, 85.1 on BrowseComp-ZH, 92.9 on DeepSearchQA, and 56.4 on Humanity's Last Exam; Iris-mini reaches 82.2, 84.8, 86.9, and 52.3 respectively. Training tasks are reverse-engineered from web link structure, filtered by a judge model, and refined via alternating SFT and reinforcement learning ('SFT-RL climbing') against live web search. Weights are available on Hugging Face, and the Iris Harness with agent loop, tools, and all four benchmarks is on GitHub.

Cognition launches new SWE-2 model, Rivaling Fable 5.1 and GPT-Astra

Cognition released SWE-2, a coding model post-trained from Kimi K3 that scores 50.0% on FrontierCode 1.1 Main, near Fable 5.1 at 64% lower cost.

Cognition introduced SWE-2, its most advanced coding model, post-trained from the 2.8T-parameter Kimi K3 base model. It achieves 50.0% on FrontierCode 1.1 Main, 73.0% on DeepSWE 1.1, and 92.8% on Terminal-Bench 2.1, beating Grok 4.6 and SWE-1.7 while matching Fable 5.1 and GPT-5.6 Sol at a fraction of the price. The company says it scaled reinforcement learning to the multi-trillion-parameter regime for the first time, using Pareto-informed cost penalties that train all reasoning-effort levels in a single run, tripled RL environments, and NVFP4/FP8 quantization-aware training. SWE-2 is available today in Devin Desktop and CLI, with rollout on Devin Web and Fusion.

DeepSeek-v4.1 Flash: Pushing the Limits of KV Cache Compression

DeepSeek-V4.1 Flash is a 552B-parameter multimodal MoE model with 1M-token context achieving 4x KV cache compression for long-horizon agent workloads.

A detailed analysis of the DeepSeek-V4.1 Flash technical report describes a 552B-parameter multimodal mixture-of-experts model supporting contexts up to 1 million tokens. Its Causal Encoder-Decoder (CED) architecture activates 8B parameters during prefill and 16B during decode, and reportedly delivers about 420 tokens/s. Joint optimization of architecture (CSA2 cross-layer compression), FP4 KV cache precision, and deployment strategy cuts runtime KV cache to roughly 1/4 and persistent KV cache to about 1/8 of DeepSeek-V4-Flash at the same sequence length, targeting storage and bandwidth bottlenecks in long-horizon agent serving. The author notes all DeepSeek-V4 Pro models were taken offline following the release.
