Show HN: How Stale Is Your AI? Release age and training cutoff for 20 models

A new site tracks release dates and training cutoffs for 20 AI models across 8 labs, exposing months-long staleness gaps.

A community-built page, launched via Show HN, tracks release dates and training cutoff dates for 20 current models from 8 labs including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind, Meta, Mistral AI, Alibaba, DeepSeek, and xAI. Only 10 of the 20 models have lab-published cutoff dates, with data available as models.json. For example, GPT-6 Astra shipped September 3, 2026 with an April 30, 2026 cutoff. The page argues web search tools paper over, but never close, the staleness gap.

Better Vector Search for Long Documents: Chunking Inside Manticore Searchnew

Manticore Search added automatic document chunking for vector columns, lifting long-document recall@5 from 55.1% to 83.3% in its benchmarks.

Manticore Search introduced a chunk_strategy option for model-backed vector columns in CREATE TABLE, offering five strategies (truncate, mean, fixed, recursive, sentence) with tunable max_tokens, overlap_tokens, and max_chunks, eliminating external splitters and separate chunk tables. On its 189-page, ~298k-word manual, sentence chunking improved recall@5 from 55.1% to 83.3% and MRR from 0.44 to 0.70, at roughly 2.5x RAM and 4x ingest time. Documents still return as single results; queries are never chunked.

The Other Half of the Memory Wall: Serving 35B MoEs from SSD with Trained Routing Predictionnew

Edge0 streams 35B-parameter MoE inference from SSD on a 24GB machine at 20 tokens/s using a one-token-ahead prerouter, with framework and checkpoints open-sourced.

The paper (arXiv 2609.18063) presents Edge0, a streaming MoE inference engine whose per-layer prerouter predicts the next layer's expert routing one token ahead so SSD reads can be pre-staged with nothing dropped. An unmerged recovery LoRA trained on the student path compensates for quality lost to int4 quantization and routing replacement. On a single 24GB machine it serves a 35B MoE at 20 tok/s within 3GiB of peak active memory, within a few points of its fp16 teacher across five public benchmarks; framework, checkpoints, and adapters are open source.

Traefik Labs brings independent verification to AI agent governance

Traefik Labs announces Sovereign Trust Plane in Traefik Hub, adding verifiable delegation, policy enforcement, and tamper-evident audit records for AI agent traffic.

Traefik Labs announced the Sovereign Trust Plane for Traefik Hub, generally available by September 30, 2026, providing delegated access, policy enforcement, and tamper-evident records for AI agent, tool, and API traffic. It implements the IETF ID-JAG draft with Okta Cross App Access and Janssen, enforces decisions through OpenID AuthZEN with OpenFGA and Cerbos, and commits cryptographic log fingerprints to transparency checkpoints verified by independently administered witnesses. The gateway also extends enforcement to MCP tool calls and the MCP server's backend API connection.

Agent-net Open Sources Webagent: A Go Harness That Turns Any Website into a Guarded AI Agent

Agent-net open-sourced Webagent, a Go harness turning websites into AI agents with code-enforced guardrails wrapping every tool call.

Agent-net released Webagent under Apache 2.0, a Go framework where a business fills in a declarative JSON spec, picks one provider for each of nine pluggable slots (retrieval, memory, guardrail, channel, secrets, presenter, model, action, observability), and runs webagent serve. Every tool the agent holds is wrapped by action.Guard so the chosen guardrail executes before any action runs and the model cannot bypass it. Live capabilities include OpenRouter/gateway LLM brains, MCP tools over Streamable HTTP, and Slack, WhatsApp, and HTTP channels; browser actions, OAuth-gated MCP, OTel export, and AgentNet identity/billing are not yet built. The project is v0 with a deferred-hardening list and cites arXiv 2511.19477 on an 85% versus 50% task-success gap attributed to architecture over model capability.
