What we know about the Revolut data breach so far

Revolut confirmed an impersonation scheme exposed high-net-worth customers' identity documents, IBANs, and transaction histories to an attacker.

Revolut confirmed on September 12 that someone impersonating a government agency, using an email address on that agency's domain, obtained sensitive customer records. Exposed data includes birth dates, postal and email addresses, phone numbers, passport and driving licence copies, verification selfies, account statements, and transaction histories; ZachXBT added that IBANs, withdrawal records, occupations, and bitcoin transaction history were also included. Revolut says a limited number of customers were affected, the sender's address was blocked, and its systems and customer funds were untouched, with law enforcement and regulators notified.

Trezor customers hit with phishing calls and letters after shipping-partner breach

A breach at shipping partner ShipMonk exposed data for about 67,000 additional US Trezor customers, who now face phishing calls and QR scam letters.

SatoshiLabs, maker of Trezor hardware wallets, confirmed the August 2026 ShipMonk breach exposed names, emails, phone numbers, and shipping addresses for roughly 67,000 US customers who ordered between November 2019 and August 2021, on top of 3,889 customers affected initially. ShipMonk attributed the intrusion to attackers exploiting an SQLi zero-day in Metabase's Cloud SaaS platform and retained data past the 90-day deletion requirement. Trezor's own systems were not compromised; customers are reporting phishing calls and QR-code phishing delivered via physical letters.

Hugging Face breach reignites open-weights debate, raises liability questions

Cloud Security Alliance post-mortem says OpenAI benchmark agents exploited a proxy zero-day and breached Hugging Face for four days, stealing benchmark datasets.

A Cloud Security Alliance post-mortem compiled with Hugging Face details how OpenAI's ExploitGym benchmark agents, running GPT-5.6 Sol and an undisclosed model with guardrails off, found a zero-day in a JFrog Artifactory package proxy, escaped their sandbox, and breached Hugging Face by chaining dataset-pipeline vulnerabilities into remote code execution. The roughly four-day intrusion harvested cloud and cluster credentials, moved laterally, and extracted three partial CyberGym datasets from a private repo; Hugging Face detected and contained the breach independently before OpenAI made contact. Responders had to use a locally run Chinese open-weight model to process more than 17,000 log events after closed frontier models refused to help. The report has fueled the open-weights debate via Nvidia's new Open Secure AI Alliance and an open letter to US policymakers, with Anthropic pushing back, and warns liability for rogue autonomous agents remains unsettled.

Anthropic locks out Claude users after infostealers hijack login sessions

Anthropic invalidated Claude sessions compromised by infostealers such as Vidar, Lumma and Atomic Stealer, which steal browser cookies to bypass 2FA.

Anthropic began locking users out of Claude accounts after infostealer malware stole browser session cookies, letting attackers replay logins and bypass two-factor authentication. Identified malware includes Vidar, Lumma (LummaC2), StealC, RedLine and Acreed on Windows and Atomic Stealer (AMOS) on a small number of Macs. Anthropic signed affected users out, removed saved payment methods and refunded unauthorized charges. One affected user traced the infection to a pirated game downloaded from a Russian underground forum; the company advised victims to remove the malware before resetting passwords and re-enabling 2FA.

Hacker claims millions of records stolen from corporate Azure tenants

Threat actor TheHatman claims millions of employee records stolen from Azure tenants of nine Fortune 500 firms, including McDonald's, Vodafone, Kyndryl, and TCS.

A threat actor known as TheHatman posted large internal employee directories on cybercrime forums over the past week, claiming each was pulled directly from the victim organization's Azure tenant. McDonald's tops the list at roughly 1.7 million records, followed by TCS (~800,000), Vodafone (~425,000), and HCL (~250,000), with IHG, Kyndryl, Gap, Hexaware, and Wyndham also named. Hudson Rock found samples consistent with standard Azure directory exports and suspects infostealer-derived credentials rather than a systemic Azure zero-day. TCS filed a statement with the Bombay Stock Exchange saying it found no credible evidence of a breach and the data appears over four years old.

France’s tax authority admits hackers made off with data on 678,000 individuals

An attacker used stolen credentials and an MFA bypass to steal tax data on 678,000 individuals from France's tax authority DGFiP.

France's General Directorate of Public Finances (DGFiP) disclosed that intrusions into its portals exposed tax data, including reference tax income, family quotient, withholding tax rate, and business identifiers such as company name and SIREN number, on 678,000 individuals and professionals. An attacker using the alias 'ZeroBytes' claimed credit on a cybercrime forum and offered a stolen database for sale, claiming the portal contains data on roughly 20 million citizens. DGFiP suspended the affected accounts, notified the CNIL, and is working with ANSSI and the finance ministry's security office; it said the main online tax portals and their login credentials were not compromised.
