[webapps] Nodemailer 9.0.0 - File Read/ SSRF

A public proof-of-concept demonstrates arbitrary file read and SSRF in Nodemailer 9.0.0.

Exploit-DB entry 52654 contains a webapps proof-of-concept for Nodemailer 9.0.0 demonstrating both arbitrary file read and server-side request forgery. Nodemailer is a widely used Node.js email-sending library, so affected deployments could expose local files or internal services. The listing does not include a CVE identifier or evidence of in-the-wild exploitation.

Chaotic Eclipse Released ShieldCrash, A PoC For Microsoft Defender Zero-Day

Researcher Chaotic Eclipse released ShieldCrash, a PoC showing Microsoft Defender's CVE-2026-69414 patch is incomplete, enabling arbitrary file reads as SYSTEM.

Security researcher Chaotic Eclipse published ShieldCrash, a proof-of-concept exploit for the Microsoft Malware Protection Engine privilege escalation vulnerability CVE-2026-69414 (ShieldBreak). The PoC performs arbitrary file reads with SYSTEM privileges on all supported Windows versions, including systems running the September 2026 security updates and Malware Protection Engine version 1.1.26080.3. The researcher claims Microsoft's patch fixed several exploit paths but missed a specific condition that still enables the attack. His recent releases also include zero-day PoCs targeting Nvidia, Kaspersky, Avast, and CrowdStrike Falcon.

Mass Scanning Targets Exposed Vite Servers to Steal AWS Keys and Azure Tokens

Attackers mass-scanned exposed Vite dev servers exploiting CVE-2026-39364 to read .env files and steal AWS keys and Azure tokens, per F5 Labs honeynet data.

Honeynet telemetry recorded 807 session-grouped attacks and roughly 32,000 raw events in August 2026 against exposed Vite development servers. CVE-2026-39364 (CVSS 7.5) is an unauthenticated file-read flaw in Vite 7.1.0 through 7.3.2 and 8.0.5 that bypasses server.fs.deny via query parameters like ?raw and ?import&raw to return files in plaintext. Attackers also probed older Vite flaws CVE-2025-30208, CVE-2025-31125, and CVE-2024-45811, and used wordlists to locate .env files, AWS credential files, Azure token stores, and Terraform state across Linux, container, and web paths. Exposed secrets could enable lateral movement or full cloud account takeover.

Perfect-10 GitLab bug under attack days after patch lands

CISA confirms active exploitation of CVSS 10.0 GitLab path traversal flaw CVE-2026-85706 days after patches shipped, enabling unauthenticated arbitrary file reads.

CISA added CVE-2026-85706, a maximum-severity 10.0 CVSS path traversal flaw in GitLab's repository commits API, to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog and confirmed active exploitation. The bug allows unauthenticated attackers to read arbitrary files, including configuration data and credentials, from self-managed GitLab CE/EE servers via a single HTTP POST request. GitLab shipped fixes on September 10 in versions 19.3.2, 19.2.6, and 19.1.8, covering versions 18.7 through 19.3. watchTowr is observing probes against internet-facing instances and warns widespread exploitation is likely to follow quickly.

Researcher Drops New Microsoft Defender PoC Showing ShieldBreak Patch Can Be Bypassed

Researcher Chaotic Eclipse released a PoC showing CVE-2026-69414's patch is bypassable, allowing arbitrary file reads as SYSTEM on current Windows.

The researcher known as Chaotic Eclipse published a proof-of-concept for a zero-day in Microsoft Defender, dubbed ShieldCrash, assessed as a patch bypass for ShieldBreak (CVE-2026-69414, CVSS 7.8). The PoC demonstrates an arbitrary file read as SYSTEM with the latest Windows installed, and all supported desktop versions are said to be impacted. Microsoft patched the original issue in Microsoft Malware Protection Engine 1.1.26080.3, which updates automatically. The same researcher recently released PoCs for flaws in CrowdStrike Falcon Sensor, Kaspersky, Avast Antivirus and NVIDIA.

A Deep Dive Into Attempted Exploitation of CVE-2023

Mirai-like botnet scans exploit TP-Link EOL router flaw CVE-2023-33538 after CISA KEV addition, though observed exploit code is flawed.

Unit 42 observed large-scale automated scans attempting to exploit CVE-2023-33538 in end-of-life TP-Link TL-WR940N, TL-WR740N and TL-WR841N routers after CISA added the flaw to its KEV catalog in June 2025. HTTP GET requests inject commands via the ssid1 parameter at the /userRpm/WlanNetworkRpm endpoint to download and execute an arm7 ELF binary, a Mirai variant related to the Condi IoT botnet. Firmware emulation and reverse engineering showed the observed exploits are flawed and would fail, but the underlying vulnerability is real and successful exploitation requires authentication to the router's web interface. TP-Link confirmed the devices are end-of-life with no patches available and recommends replacing units and eliminating default credentials.

Attackers Exploit Critical Langflow and Rails Flaws in Credential

VulnCheck reports active exploitation of critical Langflow CVE-2026-0768 and Rails CVE-2026-66066 for credential harvesting, with detections rising to 360.

VulnCheck observed active exploitation of CVE-2026-0768 (CVSS 9.8) in Langflow and CVE-2026-66066 'KindaRails2Shell' (CVSS 9.5) in Ruby on Rails, with detections rising from 50 on August 30, 2026 to 360 by September 1. The Rails flaw allows unauthenticated arbitrary file reads, leaking secret_key_base, Rails master key, database passwords, cloud credentials and API tokens, ultimately enabling RCE; the patch still leaves the variation-key Marshal deserialization RCE gadget functional. Observed chains include a Python credential harvester with SimpleHelp remote access via CVE-2026-5027, and weaponization of CVE-2025-3248 to enlist hosts into an XMR mining botnet after disabling auditd. More than 7,100 exposed vulnerable Ruby on Rails instances and over 15,000 successful exploitation attempts across three Langflow flaws were recorded.
