Malicious Twitch Extension Exposes 31,000 Users' OAuth Tokens

Malicious Twitch extension 'Twitch Enhanced Viewer | JeetBot' forwarded live OAuth session tokens of roughly 31,000 users to Russian JeetBot proxy servers.

Socket research found the cross-store extension Twitch Enhanced Viewer | JeetBot (about 30,000 Chrome users and 552 Firefox users) routing Twitch video requests through JeetBot proxy servers with the account-scoped OAuth bearer token appended in cleartext as a URL query parameter. Version 4.x builds, including 4.8 from January 2026, posted captured tokens to dedicated set-token endpoints on JeetBot infrastructure with backups on two Deno services. Token holders can read and send whispers, post in chat, and spend channel points without a password or 2FA; listings were still live at publication and users are advised to remove the extension and re-authenticate.

Gigabud Uses Android App Cloning to Evade Fraud Detection

Group-IB reports the Gigabud Android banking trojan clones bank apps into isolated work profiles via the Vwork tool to evade fraud detection, with roughly $960,000 in losses in Indonesia.

Group-IB found Gigabud now ships dedicated code to work with Vwork, a weaponized fork of the open-source Android cloning app Shelter it attributes to GoldFactory, exposing cloning functions so any installed app can call them. After installing via phishing sites and messengers posing as airline, tax and government apps, operators request accessibility and overlay permissions, then clone the victim's banking app into a new work profile where it is invisible to signature-based detection in the personal profile. Fake login screens and overlays capture credentials while cloned-app transactions appear to banks as coming from an unrecognized, malware-free device. Between February and July 2026 in Indonesia, Group-IB observed about 1,469 compromised devices, 1,281 potentially compromised logins and estimated losses of roughly $960,939, with Vwork-enabled samples targeting 11 countries including Brazil, Mexico, Egypt and Thailand.

MantaxOtax Android Malware Combines Ransomware With Spyware

Zimperium analyzed MantaxOtax Android malware combining AES file encryption with extensive spying, linked to Indonesian actors and distributed via sideloading.

Zimperium's zLabs published a technical analysis of MantaxOtax, an Android malware family that combines ransomware-style file encryption with comprehensive spyware, linked to Indonesian threat actors and distributed via sideloaded APKs on a third-party file-sharing service. The malware requests device administrator, SMS, contacts, storage and Accessibility permissions, resolves its C2 domain dynamically from a GitHub repository, and encrypts files with AES using per-device keys derived from the Android ID on Android 9 and earlier. It steals WhatsApp messages, Telegram credentials, OTPs and other data, and uses MediaProjection for screenshots and screen recording staged on Catbox; a second variant adds WebSocket C2 with persistent screen locking and app blocking.

THost9 Android RAT Pairs Packed Loader With ADB Worm

Dark Atlas details THost9, a packed Android RAT paired with an ADB worm that installs itself on devices with exposed Android Debug Bridge services.

Dark Atlas researchers described the Hagaseca cluster, whose THost9 packed loader hides executable code in an embedded asset decoded with single-byte XOR and gzip before loading a tc9.dex second stage. The second stage adds shell execution, file transfer, tunneling, reverse shells, downloadable modules and a self-propagating ADB worm that expands single addresses into 65,025-host scan ranges. Newer builds include anti-analysis checks for Frida, and incident reports connect THost9 and THost4 to Android phones and Redroid containers with exposed ADB from October 2024 through 2026.

International Operation Disrupts Sality P2P Botnet

US-led international operation with Europol, CrowdStrike, and Shadowserver sinkholed the 20-year-old Sality P2P botnet, once exceeding one million infected machines.

On August 31, 2026, authorities from the US, Bulgaria, Hungary, and Romania, supported by Europol, CrowdStrike, and the Shadowserver Foundation, disrupted the Sality P2P botnet by sinkholing communications and seizing domains. Sality has operated for over 20 years, at its peak controlling more than one million infected machines used for credential theft, spam, proxy services, crypto-theft, and DDoS attacks, with over 11 million unique IP addresses linked to its infrastructure since 2017. The disruption exploited the botnet's super-peer reputation mechanism by removing legitimate peers via protocol-level manipulation and inserting sinkhole entries into emptied peer lists.
