Identifying a BOLA Vulnerability in Harbor, a Cloud

Unit 42 found a BOLA flaw, CVE-2024-22278 (CVSS 6.4), letting Maintainers improperly alter Harbor project metadata; fixed in versions 2.9.5, 2.10.3, and 2.11.0.

Unit 42 researchers identified a broken object-level authorization flaw, CVE-2024-22278, in Harbor, a CNCF-graduated cloud-native container registry with 1.8 million downloads. The flaw (CVSS 6.4) lets users with the Maintainer role create, update, and delete project metadata, actions reserved for ProjectAdmin, risking data exposure, integrity compromise, and circumvention of vulnerability scanning. Harbor patched the issue in versions 2.9.5, 2.10.3, and 2.11.0. The finding came from Unit 42's automated BOLA detection tool built on generative AI.

The 2026 PNPL Competition: Word Classification and Efficient Cross-Subject Generalisation in LibriBrain100

The 2026 PNPL competition releases LibriBrain100, a MEG speech dataset with 32 extra subjects, targeting word classification and cross-subject BCI generalization.

The 2025 PNPL competition on non-invasive speech decoding from MEG achieved F1-macro scores of 95.6% for speech detection and 73.6% for phoneme classification, built on LibriBrain's ~50 hours of single-subject data. The 2026 edition extends this with LibriBrain100, adding 32 subjects (~40 minutes each) plus ~80 hours of within-subject data. Two tracks target within-subject word classification at scale and cross-subject generalization with subject-specific fine-tuning shrinking from ~40 to ~20 to ~10 minutes, aiming at clinically feasible non-invasive BCIs for people with profound paralysis.

Security fixes in libfuse-3.18.3

libfuse 3.18.3 disables fuse_session_custom_io() by default to stop non-kernel peers from forging FUSE requests libfuse parses unvalidated.

libfuse 3.18.3 ships security fixes announced by Sam James on the oss-security mailing list. The fuse_session_custom_io() function is now disabled unless libfuse is built with -Denable-custom-io=true, returning -ENOTSUP otherwise. The reason is that a custom io peer might not be a kernel and can forge requests that libfuse parses without validation. The hello_ll_uds example is now built only with that option, and enabling it triggers a warning at configure time.

The GNU C Library security advisory update for 2026-09-10

glibc advisory GLIBC-SA-2026-0016: nscd can crash from a stack overflow when an untrusted DNS server returns oversized responses.

A new GNU C Library advisory (GLIBC-SA-2026-0016) describes a stack overflow in the nscd service caused by unbounded alloca use. glibc 2.3.4 and newer may crash when a malicious DNS server returns an oversized response, resulting in degraded DNS resolution. Exploitation requires nscd to be enabled and the system to be using an untrusted DNS server. The advisory was posted to oss-security by glibc maintainer Siddhesh Poyarekar.

The Shared Clipboard Inside the Sandbox: Cross-Account Data Leakage in ChatGPT

Check Point discovers cross-account data leakage in ChatGPT: isolated code-execution containers communicate via shared JFrog Artifactory, enabling covert Gmail exfiltration.

Check Point Research found a covert bidirectional channel between ChatGPT code-execution containers belonging to different accounts, which were supposed to be isolated from each other and the public internet. Both could reach the same internal JFrog Artifactory instance used for package delivery, whose exposed Item Management API allowed a 'shared clipboard' between containers. In a proof of concept, a hidden instruction in a shared conversation made ChatGPT retrieve email data from the victim's connected Gmail account and send it to the attacker's account while the victim received a normal answer. The same channel could exfiltrate conversation history and session files; OpenAI recently described a similar isolation weakness in its postmortem of the Hugging Face incident.

Jackrong/Qwopus3.8-27B-Flash-GGUF — new model trending #26 on Hugging Face

Community fine-tune Qwopus3.8-27B-Flash, built on Qwen3.8-27B, cuts agent reasoning latency with 12.8% faster decoding and 80.7% MTP acceptance.

DPRK APTs: Ted backdoor and curlRAT target South Korean media and automotive sectors

Rapid7 uncovered a DPRK-linked Linux toolkit using a HAProxy-embedded ted backdoor, SSH keylogger, and curlRAT against South Korean media and automotive firms.

Rapid7 Labs identified a previously undocumented framework attributed with medium confidence to DPRK actors, targeting South Korean automotive and media organizations likely since early 2025. The toolkit embeds a backdoor compiled into HAProxy 2.8.12 using its filter API, plus trojanized crond, agetty, atd, sshd, and polkitd, an SSH keylogger storing credentials under /var/lib/sshd/, and a curl-based RAT with a watchdog thread. It enables remote command execution, malicious script injection into served webpages (a watering-hole loop), credential harvesting, and long-term surveillance. Hardcoded C2s are associated with APT37 via ThreatFox, and exposed groupware portals and mail servers align with Kimsuky tradecraft; the initial access vector and any CVE remain unconfirmed.

Threat Brief: 3CXDesktopApp Supply Chain Attack (Updated)

Trojanized 3CXDesktopApp installers for Windows and macOS loaded RC4-encrypted shellcode delivering a backdoor to hundreds of thousands of 3CX users.

Threat actors compromised the 3CXDesktopApp build process, adding malicious libraries (ffmpeg.dll, d3dcompiler_47.dll) to installers downloaded from the developer's website. The Windows MSI loader decrypts embedded shellcode with RC4, sleeps for a random 1-4 weeks, then beacons to C2 hidden in icon files on GitHub. Unit 42 fingerprinted 247,277 IPs across 199 countries using 3CX applications and blocked shellcode execution at 127 Cortex XDR customers between March 9-30, 2023.

Notes on gotchas while migrating 35kb preprompts from Opus to self-hosted Ollama

Opinion piece urges migrating 35KB preprompts from Anthropic/OpenAI to self-hosted Ollama, citing session privacy risks and safety filters blocking security research.

The author documents gotchas migrating 35KB preprompts from Claude Opus to self-hosted Ollama, motivated by fears that frontier providers train on user sessions, citing the OpenAI Navier-Stokes controversy. The piece argues inference providers cannot audit their own retention or training pipelines and that only self-hosted hardware offers verifiable privacy. It also criticizes frontier safety filters for refusing vulnerability research tasks and calls for models that support exploitability testing in CI/CD pipelines.
