Docker Sandboxes Vulnerabilities Let Malicious Guests Escape Workspace and Access Host Files

Docker fixed two symlink-race flaws in Docker Sandboxes, CVE-2026-77179 and CVE-2026-79994, letting malicious guests escape the workspace and read host files; fixed in 0.42.0.

Docker patched CVE-2026-77179 (Critical) and CVE-2026-79994 (High) in Docker Sandboxes 0.42.0, released September 7. Both are time-of-check-to-time-of-use symlink races: CVE-2026-77179 in the macOS virtio-fs host server (versions 0.28.0 to before 0.42.0) can allow a malicious guest to read or modify arbitrary host files and potentially achieve code execution, while CVE-2026-79994 in the guest-to-host Unix socket relay (0.37.0 to before 0.42.0) can redirect host connections to arbitrary AF_UNIX sockets. Docker recommends upgrading and, as interim mitigation, using clone mode and avoiding read-write host mounts.

Windows 11 KB5124008 Update Breaks Active Directory Domain Trust and Blocks User Logins

Microsoft's September Windows 11 cumulative update KB5124008 breaks Active Directory domain trust on domain-joined machines, blocking logins despite valid credentials.

Microsoft is investigating community reports that KB5124008, the September 8, 2026 cumulative update for Windows 11 24H2/25H2 (builds 26100.9445/26200.9445), breaks the AD secure channel, causing 'The user name or password is incorrect' errors on interactive logon. Admins reproduced the failure consistently and observed nltest error 1786 (ERROR_NO_TRUST_LSA_SECRET) plus domain controller Event 4625 with status 0xC000006D over NTLM. The problem is suspected in Machine Identity Isolation, a Credential Guard capability that moves machine-account secrets into virtualization-based security, and disabling it via registry value, Group Policy, or Intune baseline restored trust. The September 14 out-of-band update KB5129195 does not address the domain trust issue, and Microsoft's release notes do not list it as a known problem.

Check Point Vulnerability Lets Remote Hackers Gain Root Access Without Authentication

Check Point patched CVE-2026-91843, a CVSS 9.8 pre-auth stack overflow granting remote root on Security Management and Log Servers.

Check Point released an urgent fix for CVE-2026-91843 (CVSS 3.1: 9.8), a stack-based buffer overflow triggered by an excessively long username during login that lets an unauthenticated remote attacker execute arbitrary code with root privileges. Affected products include Security Management Server, Multi-Domain Security Management Server, and Log Servers across releases from R80 through R82.20, with fixes delivered via LivePatch and urgent Take packages. The vendor reports no observed exploitation in the wild, and administrators are advised to verify patch deployment and restrict SmartConsole Trusted Clients.

CVE-2026-81866: Apache NiFi: Missing Authorization for Assets and Secrets Referenced by Connector Configuration

Apache NiFi 2.9.0-2.11.0 Connector configuration update and verification APIs skip authorization for referenced Assets and Secrets (CVE-2026-81866, Low).

Apache NiFi 2.9.0 through 2.11.0 provide Connector configuration update and verification REST API methods that do not enforce authorization checks on Assets and Secrets referenced in the proposed configuration. Updating or verifying a Connector configuration can apply Asset and Secret references without the caller holding the required privileges. The issue, CVE-2026-81866, is rated Low severity and affects the nifi-web-api component.

TP-Link Cameras 0-Day Vulnerabilities Allow Attackers to Spy on Users

Two zero-day flaws in TP-Link Tapo C200 cameras allowed authentication bypass and denial-of-service; fixed in firmware V5_1.4.6.

OPSWAT researchers Khoi Tran and Thai Do found CVE-2026-15315, an authentication bypass in the Tapo C200's local HTTPS interface that lets network-adjacent attackers replay an authentication value to gain administrator access, and CVE-2026-15316, an unauthenticated denial-of-service in the Wi-Fi onboarding process that crashes the camera's HTTPS service. TP-Link was notified on April 16, 2026, confirmed the flaws on July 10, and released patches on August 18, 2026 in firmware V5_1.4.6. Exploitation requires local network access but no valid account, existing session, or user interaction, exposing live feeds and stored recordings to surveillance risk.

Parallels Desktop Flaw Lets Unprivileged Mac Users Gain Root Access

JFrog's 'ParaShells' research details CVE-2026-90894, a Parallels Desktop local privilege escalation letting unprivileged macOS users gain root via tar argument injection.

JFrog researcher Yuval Moravchick disclosed CVE-2026-90894 ('ParaShells'), a critical local privilege escalation flaw demonstrated against Parallels Desktop 26.4.0 build 57513 on Apple silicon. The world-writable /var/run/prl_disp_service.socket accepts connections from unsigned clients, and argument injection into a tar extraction command via the --use-compress-program option executes attacker-controlled code with root privileges. The attack needs no administrator permissions, running VM, or Parallels-signed client, and a one-line PoC yielded a root shell. Risk is highest on developer workstations, shared training systems, and enterprise Macs.
