ZDI-26-701: Linux Kernel TLS Protocol Out-Of-Bounds Read Information Disclosure Vulnerability

ZDI discloses Linux Kernel TLS protocol out-of-bounds read (CVE-2026-64046) allowing high-privileged local attackers to disclose sensitive information, CVSS 6.7.

ZDI-26-701 covers an out-of-bounds read information disclosure vulnerability in the Linux Kernel TLS protocol implementation, tracked as CVE-2026-64046 with a CVSS rating of 6.7. Exploitation requires the attacker to already have the ability to execute high-privileged code on the target system. Impact is limited to disclosure of sensitive information from affected installations.

CVE-2026-59969: Apache ZooKeeper: Improper validation of certificate with host mismatch in FIPS mode

CVE-2026-59969: Apache ZooKeeper quorum TLS skips peer hostname verification in FIPS-mode deployments, enabling potential server-to-server impersonation.

Apache ZooKeeper versions 3.8.0-3.8.6 and 3.9.0-3.9.5 fail to enforce peer hostname verification for quorum TLS when FIPS mode is enabled with sslQuorum, zookeeper.fips-mode, and hostname verification settings turned on. The flaw is rated important and could allow an attacker to impersonate a quorum peer via certificate host mismatch. Users should upgrade to fixed versions.

Jellyfin 12.0 security fixes arrive alongside the removal of legacy client logins

Jellyfin 12.0 ships security fixes for path traversal, first-run setup bypass, unsafe plugin names, and web client XSS, plus removal of legacy login paths.

Jellyfin 12.0 blocks requests built to reach files outside served folders, prevents setup-wizard re-runs on misconfigured servers, rejects unsafe plugin package names, and fixes web client cross-site scripting. The project published no CVE identifiers or severity ratings for the fixes. The release also drops legacy /emby/ and /mediabrowser/ endpoints, targets .NET 10, and breaks 10.11-era third-party plugins.

Windows 11 Security Update KB5124008 Breaks Always-On VPN Connections

Microsoft's September 2026 Windows 11 update KB5124008 breaks certificate-based Always On VPN on some enterprise clients, forcing admins to pause rollout.

Microsoft's September 8, 2026 cumulative update KB5124008 for Windows 11 24H2 (build 26100.9445) and 25H2 (build 26200.9445) breaks certificate-based Always On VPN tunnels on some enterprise clients, with connectivity restored after uninstalling the update and rebooting. The issue was first detailed on Microsoft Q&A on September 9 by an administrator using Intune-deployed VPN profiles with RRAS and NPS on Windows Server 2019. The same mandatory Patch Tuesday package fixes two actively exploited zero-days, CVE-2026-81963 in the Windows Update Stack and CVE-2026-85880 in Windows Advanced Local Procedure Call, so many teams are pausing only VPN cohorts rather than blocking the full rollout.

Critical ArangoDB Flaws Allow Authentication Bypass and Remote Code Execution as Root

Two critical ArangoDB flaws (CVSS 9.8 and 9.9) enable unauthenticated API access and root code execution; fixes shipped in version 3.12.11

Remedio researchers found two ArangoDB flaws: GHSA-rrgq-978q-36mq (CVSS 9.8), an authentication bypass caused by the server inconsistently interpreting URL-encoded '/_api' paths, and GHSA-rvhw-4hpw-9vrx (CVSS 9.9), which lets users with database write access run JavaScript tasks with root privileges via the isSystem flag. Chained, they allow administrative database access without credentials, theft of the root password hash, and root code execution, exposing files such as /etc/shadow, TLS keys and cluster signing material on the official container image. ArangoDB shipped fixes in version 3.12.11 on August 31, 2026, with advisories published September 6; CVE identifiers were still pending. Users on 3.12.10.1 or earlier should upgrade, restrict exposure and rotate potentially exposed credentials.

Critical ArangoDB Bugs Expose Entire Databases and Enable Remote Code Execution as Root

Two critical ArangoDB flaws (CVSS 9.8/9.9) allow unauthenticated API access and root-level code execution; fixed in 3.12.11.

Remedio researchers reported two critical ArangoDB flaws on August 23, 2026: an authentication bypass via URL-encoded underscores (%5f) in path parsing (GHSA-rrgq-978q-36mq, CVSS 9.8) and a task-execution flaw where a client-controlled isSystem flag lets JavaScript run in the internal context (GHSA-rvhw-4hpw-9vrx, CVSS 9.9). Chained, they allow unauthenticated database access, theft of root password hashes, and root-level code execution when arangod runs as root, such as in the official container image. Patches shipped August 31 in ArangoDB 3.12.11, with GitHub Security Advisories published September 6; CVE identifiers were pending at disclosure time.
