Apache Syncope Vulnerabilities Allow Attackers to Execute Malicious Code and Bypass Controls

Apache Syncope fixed three flaws enabling SQL injection, Groovy sandbox escape, and JWT token theft to impersonate higher-privileged users.

Apache Syncope, an open-source identity management and access governance platform, disclosed CVE-2026-82232, a stacked-query SQL injection in the Task search sort parameter; CVE-2026-77147, a Groovy sandbox escape via malicious Command classes; and CVE-2026-73178, retrieval of signed JWT access tokens via REST enabling impersonation of more privileged users. All three flaws require administrator-level entitlements to exploit and affect Syncope 3.0, 4.0, and 4.1 releases. Fixes shipped in versions 4.0.8 and 4.1.3, with researchers Alon Galili and n0mi1k credited.

Critical WSO2 Vulnerability Allow Hackers to Gain Full Admin Access

WSO2 discloses CVE-2026-5430 (CVSS 10.0), an unauthenticated JWT authentication bypass allowing admin account takeover across its API management products.

WSO2 disclosed CVE-2026-5430, a critical authentication bypass (CVSS 10.0; 9.8 for single-tenant deployments) in advisory WSO2-2026-5328. The flaw stems from insecure JWT processing: tokens signed with unsupported algorithms bypass authentication checks, potentially granting unauthenticated attackers administrative access. Affected products include WSO2 API Control Plane 4.5.0-4.6.0, API Manager 4.1.0-4.6.0, Traffic Manager 4.5.0-4.6.0, and Universal Gateway 4.5.0-4.6.0. Fixes are available via update levels such as API Manager 4.6.0 update 21 or by migrating to unaffected releases.

Critical Issabel PBX Command Execution Vulnerability Exploited in the Wild

Unauthenticated attackers exploit CVE-2026-89026 in Issabel PBX via forged JWT tokens to run OS commands; exploitation observed since September 9.

CVE-2026-89026 (CVSS v4 9.3) stems from a hard-coded HS256 JWT signing key in Issabel Framework's pbxapi/index.php, letting unauthenticated attackers forge bearer tokens and execute OS commands through the Asterisk Manager Interface originate endpoint. Issabel Framework versions before commit b97dbaf0b71c1c36f841e672b664afbeb02773bd are affected. Shadowserver Foundation first observed exploitation on September 9, 2026, and VulnCheck added the flaw to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities database.

Kubernetes Attack Lets Hackers Steal SPIFFE Workload Identities and Impersonate Applications

Unit 42 detailed a Kubernetes technique where node-root attackers spoof cgroup selectors to steal SPIFFE/SPIRE workload identities and impersonate applications.

Palo Alto Networks Unit 42 described a post-exploitation technique in which an attacker with root access to a Kubernetes node manipulates cgroup metadata so the local SPIRE agent issues valid SVIDs belonging to co-located workloads. Stolen X.509 or JWT SVIDs let the attacker impersonate victim applications over mutual TLS or pass identity-aware authorization, turning node compromise into lateral movement and privilege escalation. Unit 42 said it has not observed exploitation in the wild and released the open-source Spooffe tool so defenders can measure which identities are harvestable per node.

BlackHatSect0r Uses DeepSeek-Powered AI Agent to Automate Attacks and Harvest 16,834 Credentials

SOCRadar linked the BlackHatSect0r crew to a DeepSeek-powered AI agent that automated scanning and harvested 16,834 credentials from exposed systems.

SOCRadar researchers found an exposed operation server with 4.9 GB across 9,299 files, including the DXSCAN scanning platform, phishing tools, extortion material and a vault holding 16,834 credentials such as AWS keys, GitHub tokens and Stripe keys. The French-speaking crew ran a Nous Research Hermes agent against a DeepSeek model with safety features removed, queuing 2,759,860 domains and reaching 726,989 hosts. Access came from misconfigurations like public cloud buckets and exposed .env files, not new vulnerabilities.
