New GPUThor Rowhammer Defeats ECC on NVIDIA RTX A6000 to Gain Host Root Access

University of Toronto researchers present GPUThor, a Rowhammer attack that defeats ECC on NVIDIA RTX A4000-A6000 GDDR6 GPUs and achieves host root access.

GPUThor uses non-uniform hammering to bypass Target Row Refresh and overcome SECDED ECC on NVIDIA Ampere workstation GPUs with GDDR6 memory, inducing 72,000 to 377,552 bit flips per gigabyte across RTX A6000, A5000, A4500, and A4000 cards. Triple-bit silent data corruption enables host privilege escalation to root with the IOMMU enabled, reusing GPUBreach page-table corruption techniques, and double-bit DUEs allow escalation when the IOMMU is disabled during a ~10 ms lazy-service window. The attack cut end-to-end escalation time on the A6000 from 21.9 hours to 1.1 minutes. Reported to NVIDIA, Google, Microsoft, and AWS on April 29, 2026; findings were embargoed until August 25, 2026, and no CVE identifier was assigned.

Chaotic Eclipse Released GreenSection, A PoC For NVIDIA Memory Corruption Zero-Day

Researcher Chaotic Eclipse released GreenSection, a PoC exploiting an unpatched out-of-bounds write in NVIDIA Windows user-mode shared memory.

Security researcher Chaotic Eclipse disclosed an out-of-bounds write in NVIDIA's Windows user-mode components, which share a global memory section (\BaseNamedObjects\{52813408-3561-4705-820a-2b3b78be92ba}) with full read/write access to all users. The PoC crashes applications running Vulkan or OpenGL; the researcher says the bug could cross user boundaries or compromise dwm.exe but did not fully assess the impact. No CVE has been assigned and no patch is mentioned. The researcher recently released zero-day PoCs against Kaspersky, Avast, and CrowdStrike Falcon.

Chipmaker Patch Tuesday: Nvidia, AMD, Arm Issue Security Advisories

AMD, Arm, and Nvidia issued Patch Tuesday advisories fixing a Linux GPU driver DoS flaw, nine Mali GPU vulnerabilities, and two high-severity Triton defects.

AMD fixed CVE-2026-43603, a NULL pointer dereference in its Linux GPU kernel driver that can crash systems and cause denial-of-service, credited to SecMate researchers, with patches for EPYC, Ryzen, Radeon, and Instinct shipped in July and embedded variants due in October. Arm published an advisory covering nine Mali GPU vulnerabilities allowing use-after-free access, kernel information leaks, or DoS, releasing fixes for Valhall and 5th Gen GPU Architecture drivers, with Bifrost also affected. Nvidia updated Triton Inference Server for Linux to resolve two high-severity flaws, one causing DoS and one enabling information disclosure, data tampering, and DoS. Intel had issued no new advisories since the previous Patch Tuesday.

USN-8748-1: Linux kernel (NVIDIA) vulnerabilities

Ubuntu released USN-8748-1 patching multiple Linux kernel (NVIDIA) vulnerabilities across networking, file system, and crypto subsystems.

Ubuntu issued security notice USN-8748-1 fixing several Linux kernel vulnerabilities affecting the NVIDIA Tegra memory controller driver, hardware crypto device drivers, and network drivers, among others. Affected subsystems include GFS2, OCFS2, and SMB file systems, B.A.T.M.A.N. meshing, Ceph, Netfilter, Open vSwitch, IPv4/IPv6, RxRPC, SCTP, and TIPC. An attacker could potentially exploit these flaws to compromise the system.

ZDI-26-594: NVIDIA Megatron Bridge load_model_config Code Injection Remote Code Execution Vulnerability

NVIDIA Megatron Bridge load_model_config code injection flaw (CVE-2026-24251, CVSS 7.8) enables remote arbitrary code execution on affected installs.

ZDI-26-594 describes a code injection vulnerability in NVIDIA Megatron Bridge's load_model_config function, tracked as CVE-2026-24251 with CVSS 7.8. Exploitation allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations and requires user interaction. The advisory was published by the Zero Day Initiative on August 24, 2026.

ZDI-26-592: NVIDIA TensorRT ONNX File Parsing Improper Validation of Array Index Remote Code Execution Vulnerability

NVIDIA TensorRT improper array index validation in ONNX parsing (CVE-2026-24238, CVSS 7.8) enables remote code execution.

ZDI-26-592 addresses improper validation of array index in NVIDIA TensorRT's ONNX file parsing, tracked as CVE-2026-24238 with CVSS 7.8. Exploitation permits remote code execution on affected installations and requires user interaction. The advisory was published by the Zero Day Initiative on August 24, 2026.

ZDI-26-591: NVIDIA TensorRT ONNX File Parsing Heap-based Buffer Overflow Remote Code Execution Vulnerability

ZDI disclosed a heap-based buffer overflow RCE (CVE-2026-24272, CVSS 7.8) in NVIDIA TensorRT ONNX parsing, requiring user interaction to exploit.

The Zero Day Initiative published advisory ZDI-26-591 covering a heap-based buffer overflow in NVIDIA TensorRT's ONNX file parsing. Successful exploitation allows remote code execution when a user opens a malicious ONNX file or visits a crafted page. ZDI rated the vulnerability CVSS 7.8 and assigned CVE-2026-24272.

ZDI-26-593: NVIDIA TensorRT ONNX File Parsing Heap-based Buffer Overflow Remote Code Execution Vulnerability

ZDI disclosed a second TensorRT heap-based buffer overflow RCE (CVE-2026-24268, CVSS 7.8) in ONNX file parsing, requiring user interaction.

The Zero Day Initiative published advisory ZDI-26-593 covering another heap-based buffer overflow in NVIDIA TensorRT's ONNX file parsing. A remote attacker can execute arbitrary code if the target opens a malicious file or visits a crafted page. ZDI rated the vulnerability CVSS 7.8 and assigned CVE-2026-24268.

Prolific Microsoft 0-day hunter drops CrowdStrike Falcon exploit PoC

Researcher Nightmare Eclipse released a PoC for FalconFlank, a privilege escalation zero-day in CrowdStrike Falcon's Office macro remediation feature.

Researcher Nightmare Eclipse published a zero-day PoC dubbed FalconFlank targeting CrowdStrike Falcon's Microsoft Office malicious macro removal feature, achieving privilege escalation on fully updated Windows 11 25H2 and Windows Server 2025 with Optimal Protection and macro removal enabled. Kevin Beaumont independently confirmed the exploit works. The same researcher also released HardBreacher, an elevation-of-privilege bug in Kaspersky Endpoint (since fixed via update), PrettyPrague, an Avast Sandbox flaw that dumps the SAM database for a SYSTEM shell (Gen Digital is developing a patch), and GreenSection, an Nvidia memory corruption bug that crashes systems. CrowdStrike advises customers to disable the Suspicious Macro Removal Windows policy while it investigates.
