Hackers publish thousands of drivers’ data after breaching Florida motor vehicle databasenew

ShinyHunters published hundreds of thousands of records from Florida's DAVID vehicle database, including SSNs and passports, after an unpaid ransom demand.

The ShinyHunters group published hundreds of thousands of files from Florida's DAVID motor vehicle database on its leak site, saying the victim did not pay a ransom. Stolen records include vehicle ownership certificates with names, addresses, and VINs, plus a smaller number of Social Security numbers, non-US passports, and immigration documents. FLHSMV confirmed the breach, which followed theft of a police officer's credentials stored on a personal device. It comes the same month as the IDScan hack exposing over 150 million driver's license images.

Google says some Pixel phone owners were hacked in zero-day attacks

Google patched CVE-2026-58704, a zero-click Pixel modem privilege-escalation zero-day exploited in limited, targeted attacks.

Google disclosed that a vulnerability in Pixel smartphones' modem software, tracked as CVE-2026-58704, was exploited in limited and targeted cyberattacks and has now been patched. Exploitation could allow an attacker to escape the modem sandbox and escalate privileges to access broader phone data. The bug can be exploited silently with zero user interaction. Google did not attribute the activity, though such modem bugs are commonly abused by surveillance vendors selling spyware to governments.

ClickFix attacks are tricking Mac and Windows users into hacking themselves

ClickFix campaigns trick users into pasting terminal commands via fake CAPTCHAs; latest wave abused HBO Max's hacked Reddit account to push infostealer ads.

ClickFix attacks use fake CAPTCHA or anti-bot prompts on hacked or counterfeit websites to convince victims to copy a command into Windows Command Prompt or macOS Terminal, instantly installing infostealers that steal passwords, logged-in sessions, and crypto wallets. The latest campaign compromised HBO Max's official Reddit account to post hundreds of fake ads linking to a spoofed HBO Max page carrying the lure, per researchers at Hudson Rock. It is unclear how many users were compromised. Because execution happens in the terminal, many attacks evade antivirus tools; enterprises can block terminals domain-wide and Mac users can deploy BlockBlock.
