Google’s AI security agents found 100+ critical software vulnerabilities in just two days

Google Mandiant's AVDH, a chain of AI agents, found over 100 verified high-severity vulnerabilities and 12 assigned CVEs scanning code for ten months.

Google Mandiant disclosed AVDH (Agentic Vulnerability Discovery Harness), an internal pipeline of chained AI agents built on the Agent Development Kit that hunts vulnerabilities in source code. In a live investigation of stolen corporate repositories it verified more than 100 high-severity flaws in two days; over ten months it scanned tens of millions of lines of code and produced tens of thousands of findings, yielding 12 assigned CVEs including CVE-2026-13242 and CVE-2026-55803, with about a dozen more in active disclosure. Human consultants manually reproduce every confirmed finding before it counts.

Google’s $10,000 refund test shows why AI agents need zero trust

Google released an open-source zero-trust reference architecture for AI agents defending against prompt injection via signed database writes, gVisor sandboxing, and deterministic gating.

Google's demonstration, built on the Agent Development Kit (ADK) and Gemini, shows a customer support agent that could be manipulated into issuing a $10,000 refund on a $149 order and exposing environment variables via AI-generated Python. The architecture adds three security layers outside the model: cryptographic signatures on database writes verified via Cloud KMS backed by Cloud HSM, gVisor sandboxing of generated code with network egress disabled, and a Semantic Gateway applying deterministic checks to prompts and tool calls. It treats system prompts as insufficient boundaries because prompt injection, prompt tuning, or model updates can change agent behavior.

Countering misuse of AI: September 2026 / Anthropic

Anthropic publishes threat intelligence on Claude misuse across seven harm areas from December 2025 through August 2026.

Anthropic's Threat Intelligence team details disrupted operations using Claude Haiku, Sonnet, and Opus across cyber operations, influence operations, surveillance, scams, biological misuse, weapons development, and distillation. The report introduces Generative Threat Groups (GTGs), including state-sponsored groups and financially motivated individuals running AI-augmented multi-victim campaigns. It argues AI uplift now collapses the gap between state-sponsored operations and lone actors, aided by frameworks like PentAGI.

Security through obscurity is dead, and AI delivered the fatal blow

AI agents are killing security through obscurity, accelerating vulnerability discovery and patch-gap exploitation, experts warn, with OT/ICS systems most at risk.

An opinion/analysis piece arguing AI has made security through obscurity obsolete, citing record vulnerability disclosure volumes after Microsoft's Patch Tuesday addressed 974 CVEs. FBI Cyber Division assistant director Brett Leatherman said latest AI models found significant vulnerabilities in open source libraries running on most web servers. The article cites at least four espionage crews (most suspected China-linked) exploiting Chromium's patch-gap window with a rapid exploit kit, and a five-agency advisory on AI-generated exploitation scripts breaching internet-exposed Siemens S7 Series PLCs at water, manufacturing, and energy facilities. Experts including John Hultquist, Chris Inglis, and Katie Moussouris warn AI erodes the expertise barrier protecting obscure OT/ICS systems while defensive AI patching lags, with studies showing AI-generated patches fail more than half the time.

Risky Bulletin: Russia starts blocking DoH and DoT

Russian users report blocks on DoH and DoT servers, including Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 and Google 8.8.8.8, in an apparent censorship crackdown.

Russian internet users began reporting failures connecting to DNS-over-HTTPS and DNS-over-TLS servers, suggesting a government crackdown on the two privacy protocols. The blocks reportedly cover Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1 and Google's 8.8.8.8 resolvers; Roskomnadzor has not officially confirmed the action. The agency tested a similar block in March on Beeline's network and had named DoH for blocking as early as 2021. The bulletin also briefly notes state-sponsored phishing of EU officials, a DDoS against Norway's Digdir, the ReliaQuest/ShinyHunters dispute, and older ransomware and breach disclosures.

ThreatsDay: GhostJacking AI Attacks, EtherHiding ClickFix, Cursor CLI Flaw + 17 More Stories

A weekly bulletin aggregating short security updates, including the City-Forum data-theft campaign, a ShipMonk breach, a Cursor CLI flaw, and GhostJacking AI attacks.

The Hacker News ThreatsDay Bulletin bundles roughly 20 short updates across cloud services, AI tools, malware, breaches, and scams. Highlights include the City-Forum campaign pulling data from unauthenticated guest access in Salesforce Experience Cloud and ServiceNow Service Portals since March 2025, and a ShipMonk breach exposing Trezor customer order data for orders in seven countries between May 10 and August 8, 2026. Other items cover a patched Cursor CLI flaw that let cloned repositories run commands before the workspace-trust prompt, Okta's analysis of the Work Panel vishing console used by actors like UNC6671, and GhostJacking AI agent hijacking via a patched Claude Desktop sandbox escape. Meta also launched an on-device WhatsApp Scam Alert machine learning model that keeps message content on the device.

Physical AI Takes the Wheel: How the World’s Robotaxi Leaders Are Building With NVIDIA Technologies

NVIDIA details a three-computer robotaxi platform that Uber, Lyft, May Mobility, Mercedes-Benz and others are adopting to scale autonomous fleets.

NVIDIA says every major commercial robotaxi program runs on its stack, spanning training (DGX with Alpamayo VLA models), simulation and validation (Omniverse, Cosmos, AlpaSim on RTX PRO), and in-vehicle compute (DRIVE Hyperion 10 with dual DRIVE AGX Thor chips). Adding meta-action and chain-of-thought reasoning data to a VLA model reduced minimum average displacement error by 43%, from 2.08 to 1.18. Uber plans NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion-based fleets across 28 cities by 2028, partnering with Autobrains, Avride, Lucid, May Mobility, Mercedes-Benz, Momenta, Nissan, Nuro, Pony.ai, Stellantis, Waabi, Wayve, WeRide and Zoox. DRIVE Hyperion 10 combines 14 cameras, nine radars, three lidars and 12 ultrasonics with redundant compute and NVIDIA Halos safety validation.

m-a-p/YuE2-3B — new model trending #30 on Hugging Face

M-A-P released YuE2-3B, an open music generation model that outperforms Suno v5 on WildSongBench and runs locally on a 24GB GPU.

The M-A-P (multimodal-art-projection) team released YuE2-3B, an open-weights music generation model that turns lyrics and a style prompt into full songs with vocals and accompaniment. It uses an AR-NAR Mixture-of-Transformers backbone with symbolic planning and flow matching through a VAE, and supports editable scores (melody and chords, including ABC notation) plus agentic editing workflows. On 192 WildSongBench prompts it reports a SongBench average of 6.9632 (best-of-8) versus 6.8721 for Suno v5, claimed as state of the art among evaluated open and proprietary models. It runs 48 kHz stereo inference locally on a single 24GB NVIDIA GPU without quantization, with companion releases including YuE2-Vae, MERT-v2 encoders, the WildSongBench dataset, and SheetSage2.
