Hierarchical NeRF with JAX3D for Volumetric Rendering, Novel-View Synthesis, and 3D Reconstruction

MarkTechPost tutorial implements a hierarchical NeRF in JAX using jax3d volume-rendering primitives for novel-view synthesis and 3D reconstruction.

The tutorial builds an end-to-end hierarchical Neural Radiance Field using JAX, Flax, Optax, and jax3d's volume-rendering functions (sample_along_rays, volume_rendering, sample_piecewise_constant_pdf). It implements positional encoding, skip connections, separate coarse and fine networks, and view-direction conditioning with hierarchical importance sampling. Training uses JAX JIT compilation, Adam optimization, exponential learning-rate decay, and gradient clipping. Evaluation covers PSNR, depth and opacity visualization, 360-degree rendering, and marching-cubes geometry extraction.

Axoflow Launches AxoDetect, Bringing Detection Into the Pipeline and Making the SIEM Optional

Axoflow launches AxoDetect in early access, running customer Sigma rules in the data pipeline to cut SIEM ingest costs and make full SIEM feeding optional.

Axoflow announced AxoDetect, now in early access and unveiled at Splunk .conf26, which runs customer Sigma rules directly in the security data pipeline on normalized data. Alerts travel to the SIEM while full-fidelity logs land in AxoLake, a low-cost on-prem-capable security data lake. The company cites a global industrial company cutting SIEM costs 50% and mean time to resolution 85%, and a government agency cutting data volume 80%.

Sakana AI Researchers Introduce PC-ALM, a Layer-Local Alternative to Backpropagation That Trains 1000-Layer Networks

Sakana AI's PC-ALM adds per-layer Lagrange multipliers to predictive coding, matching backprop on networks up to 1000 layers with layer-local updates.

Sakana AI researchers propose Augmented Lagrangian Predictive Coding (PC-ALM), a training method that keeps every update layer-local while recovering backprop-aligned credit signals. The team proves multipliers converge to exact backprop adjoints in linear networks and trains 1000-layer residual MLPs on MNIST within about 2 points of backprop accuracy. PC-ALM matched backprop across a width/depth grid from 8 to 128 on MNIST and Fashion-MNIST where standard predictive coding failed in deep, narrow networks, and improved over PC on ResNet-18 with CIFAR-10 and Tiny ImageNet. An MIT-licensed JAX reference implementation reproduces the results on CPU.

Viggle/Viggle-Animate — new model trending #28 on Hugging Face

Viggle released Viggle-Animate, a 33.1B MiniMax-H3 finetune replacing video characters from one repainted frame, rendering 124 frames in 26 seconds on one GPU.

Viggle-Animate replaces the character in a video using only a driving video and one of its own repainted frames, with no pose estimator, segmentation mask, face tracker, or text encoder. It is a 33.1B full finetune of MiniMax-H3's ref2va transformer, jointly distilled with DMD across two teachers split by noise level, so rendering takes three forward passes per clip. On a B200 GPU it renders 124 frames in 26 seconds, 6.1x faster per clip than Wan2.2-Animate-14B in matched comparisons. The method assumes no person-specific representation, so it generalizes beyond humans; a demo, research write-up, and ComfyUI nodes are available.

[AINews] DeepSeek v4.1-Flash: 763B-P8B-D16B novel causal Encoder–Decoder architecture with vision marks the Return of the Whale

DeepSeek released V4.1-Flash, an open-weight 763B-parameter model with a novel causal encoder-decoder architecture, 1M context, vision input, and MIT license.

DeepSeek launched V4.1-Flash, an open-weight MIT-licensed model using a novel causal encoder-decoder architecture with 763B total parameters and asymmetric active parameters: 8B for prefill and 16B for decode. It supports 1M-token context and text+image input, priced at $0.30 per 1M input and $1.20 per 1M output tokens with a 50% off-peak discount. Artificial Analysis scored it 40 on its Intelligence Index, above DeepSeek V4 Pro 0813, and Vals ranked it the #1 open-weight model ahead of Kimi K3. Baseten shipped day-0 support and Ollama began rolling it out to paid subscribers.

Now everyone can put data to work

OpenAI launched a Data agent in ChatGPT Work that connects to enterprise warehouses and builds shareable analysis dashboards without SQL.

OpenAI introduced a Data agent in ChatGPT Work that connects to approved sources including Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Redshift, ClickHouse, MongoDB, and Datadog, plus files from Google Drive and SharePoint. It investigates metric changes, builds interactive dashboards, and integrates with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Omni, Sigma, and ThoughtSpot using semantic layers from dbt, Databricks Genie Ontology, and Snowflake Horizon. Queries enforce the connected account's existing table, row, and column permissions, with administrators controlling access via Workspace settings. OpenAI says nearly all of its product team and over two-thirds of its GTM organization use it internally, and NTT Data, Thermo Fisher, and ServicePiston are Alpha customers.

The Intelligible World of Agents

Recorded Future argues cybersecurity AI agents perform better when reasoning over structured, curated intelligence graphs rather than fragmented alerts or open-source noise.

In a vendor essay, Recorded Future describes how its security agents produced more authoritative analyses after being re-architected to reason primarily over the Recorded Future Intelligence Graph instead of weighting open-source information equally. The author argues agentic decision quality depends mainly on a structured, current operational world model of assets, vulnerabilities, threat actors, detections and organizational context, not on model intelligence itself. The piece further claims frontier model access is commoditizing and that orchestration tooling will converge, making trusted representations of organizational knowledge the durable competitive differentiator.

Phishing Powers 80% of Attacks on US Companies: How SOCs Can Detect It Early

Phishing drives 80% of attacks on US companies; FBI recorded 158,436 BEC victims and over $20B in losses from 2013-2023.

A vendor-authored analysis claims phishing powers roughly 80% of attacks on US companies, citing FBI statistics of 158,436 business email compromise victims and more than $20 billion in reported losses between 2013 and 2023. It describes modern phishing using compromised infrastructure, redirect chains, dynamic pages, and adversary-in-the-middle techniques, including a recent campaign targeting tens of thousands of primarily US users. The piece promotes ANY.RUN Threat Intelligence Feeds and TI Reports, claiming 99% unique high-confidence IOCs, 21-minute faster MTTR, and 30% fewer Tier 2 escalations.
