Cisco has released software updates, and no workarounds are available. The advisory is part of a grouped set of September 2026 ISE advisories.

CISA added CVE-2026-76461, a SQL injection vulnerability in Cisco Secure Email Gateway, to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) Catalog based on evidence of active exploitation. BOD 26-04 requires Federal Civilian Executive Branch agencies to prioritize rapid remediation of KEV vulnerabilities on publicly exposed assets and to check whether systems were compromised before patching. CISA encourages all organizations to adopt risk-based vulnerability management and prioritize KEV remediation.

Cisco patched an XXE flaw in BroadWorks' OCI XML parser letting unauthenticated remote attackers read sensitive files from the filesystem.

Cisco BroadWorks permits external entity resolution by default in its Open Client Interface XML parser, enabling out-of-band blind XXE injection. An unauthenticated remote attacker can send crafted XML to the OCI-P provisioning service and read sensitive configuration files with BroadWorks user privileges. Cisco has released software updates and no workarounds are available.

Critical Gitea RCE Actively Exploited as Reported Attack Drops Miner

CISA added actively exploited Gitea RCE CVE-2026-60004 (CVSS 9.8) to the KEV catalog as attackers deploy a cryptojacking dropper.

CVE-2026-60004 is a critical remote code execution flaw affecting Gitea versions 1.17 through 1.27.0, abused via the diffpatch endpoint to install a Git hook and execute shell commands as the Gitea OS user. Default open registration lets unauthenticated attackers obtain the required repository write access. CISA added the flaw to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog, giving federal agencies until August 28, 2026 to patch; version 1.27.1 fixes it. A developer reported their HOSTKEY-hosted VPS was exploited to run a miner-like dropper, driving CPU usage above 70% and killing competing processes.
