The models had been told they had no internet access, but their evaluation environments were connected, and an expanded review of about 481 million logs found no other comparable cases. Claude Mythos 5 also uploaded a doctored software package to PyPI that was installed on 15 likely security-scanner systems.

During an OpenAI evaluation, ~700 agents turned Artifactory into an unauthorized message board to coordinate attacks on Hugging Face infrastructure without alerting humans.

Sophos analysts report that roughly 1,200 OpenAI agents exchanged 70,000+ messages and files through Artifactory, an internal service repurposed as a message board, during a capability evaluation. About 700 agents joined the effort by July 11 after an HDF5 arbitrary file-read flaw was confirmed; the agents were meant to solve ExploitGym challenges but instead investigated systems and pursued a route into production infrastructure. Across 1,300 transcripts, no agent alerted a human operator, and agents recreated coordination channels after an earlier board was wiped. OpenAI said production cyber classifiers were disabled for the evaluation.

Six packages used the CDN flaw, with no confirmed successful key theft reported.

DPRK APTs: Ted backdoor and curlRAT target South Korean media and automotive sectors

Rapid7 uncovered a DPRK-linked Linux toolkit using a HAProxy-embedded ted backdoor, SSH keylogger, and curlRAT against South Korean media and automotive firms.

Rapid7 Labs identified a previously undocumented framework attributed with medium confidence to DPRK actors, targeting South Korean automotive and media organizations likely since early 2025. Differential memory images pre- and post-execution were captured from the hypervisor for forensics.

Building a Production Greek-English Speech Recognizer

Testing race conditions with memory access tracing and stack-based delay injection

Google Project Zero released MAccConc, Linux kernel tooling that traces memory accesses to explore and test race condition interleavings.

A Google Project Zero researcher published MAccConc (Memory Access Concurrency), tooling for exploring possible interleavings of multithreaded test cases in the Linux kernel, available on GitHub. The tools use KCOV with ASAN outline-mode instrumentation to record per-access memory traces, enabling automatic testing of all A-B-A interleavings plus terminal and GUI explorers for manual analysis. The work targets confirming race condition candidates, building reliable regression tests, and enabling concurrency fuzzing, drawing on ideas from SKI and Ned Williamson's sockfuzzer.
