OpenVDN/vdn-minimax-h3 — new model trending #12 on Hugging Face

OpenVDN releases VDN-H3, an open hybrid-attention video model on MiniMax H3 that renders a 14.4-second 768p clip in 11.23 seconds on 8 B200 GPUs.

VDN-Minimax-H3 (VDN-H3) adds a frame-wise linear attention branch plus two LoRA adapters to MiniMax H3, distilled into 8-step and 50-step variants. It generates 768p, 14.4-second clips in 11.23 seconds on 8 B200 GPUs (90.5 seconds on one H200) using 8 denoising steps. Weights (about 82 GB total, including the 72 GB H3 base), the optimized inference stack, and training code are fully open-source under the MiniMax H3 Community License, which excludes the EU, UK, Korea, and US.

Alissonerdx/Minimax-H3-ComfyUI — new model trending #30 on Hugging Face

Alissonerdx released a rank-64 LoRA sharpening videos from MiniMax H3 in ComfyUI via guide-latent conditioning, trending #30 on Hugging Face.

Alissonerdx published Minimax-H3-ComfyUI, a repository containing a rank-64 LoRA (minimax_h3_lms_v1.0_r64) that sharpens source videos while keeping them photorealistic. It targets the MiniMax H3 ref2va base model, runs with Comfy-Org's ComfyUI-ready weights, and uses the native MiniMaxH3AddGuide node for aligned guide-latent conditioning. The release ships with a ComfyUI workflow, eight before/after example videos, and an Apache 2.0 license.

Viggle/Viggle-Animate — new model trending #28 on Hugging Face

Viggle released Viggle-Animate, a 33.1B MiniMax-H3 finetune replacing video characters from one repainted frame, rendering 124 frames in 26 seconds on one GPU.

Viggle-Animate replaces the character in a video using only a driving video and one of its own repainted frames, with no pose estimator, segmentation mask, face tracker, or text encoder. It is a 33.1B full finetune of MiniMax-H3's ref2va transformer, jointly distilled with DMD across two teachers split by noise level, so rendering takes three forward passes per clip. On a B200 GPU it renders 124 frames in 26 seconds, 6.1x faster per clip than Wan2.2-Animate-14B in matched comparisons. The method assumes no person-specific representation, so it generalizes beyond humans; a demo, research write-up, and ComfyUI nodes are available.

Mirai Variant V3G4 Targets IoT Devices

Unit 42 tracked the Mirai variant V3G4 exploiting 13 vulnerabilities across IoT devices and servers from July-December 2022 to build a DDoS botnet.

From July to December 2022, Unit 42 observed three campaigns spreading V3G4, a Mirai botnet variant, by exploiting 13 vulnerabilities, including CVE-2022-26134 in Atlassian Confluence and CVE-2019-15107 in Webmin. The campaigns shared the same C2 domains containing the string 8xl9, nearly identical shell script downloaders, and the same XOR keys, suggesting a single threat actor. The malware brute-forces telnet and SSH credentials, terminates rival botnet processes via a stop list, and receives DDoS commands from its C2. Compromised servers and networking devices are absorbed into the botnet for further attacks.

Latest open artifacts (#24): Motif-3, GLM-5.3, Hy4-preview and open model licenses

Interconnects surveys new open models—Motif-3, GLM-5.3, Hy4-preview—while analyzing a licensing split: Western labs opening up, Chinese frontier labs getting restrictive.

The roundup covers Motif-3 (MIT license, strong scores for its size), GLM-5.3 (switched from MIT to a custom license with a $10 billion revenue threshold and undefined 'affiliates' clause requiring Z.AI security review), and Tencent's Hy4-preview (competent but prone to overthinking). It also notes dots3-note-prev from RedNote/Xiaohongshu (won IMO 2026 with a perfect score), Qwen3.8-Flash-Next (125B-A6B with GDN and Qwen Sparse Attention), NVIDIA Nemotron-3.5-Lightning-30B-A3B-BF16, and Ling-3.0-flash. The core theme: Google and Meta adopted Apache 2.0 while Chinese frontier labs (Zhipu, Kimi K3, MiniMax M3) adopted restrictive commercial licenses.

Show HN: LLM Attention Visualization

A developer released a browser-based tool that visualizes which past tokens influence each LLM output token using aggregated, value-weighted attention scores.

A Show HN project presents a React application built on Transformers.js that renders per-token attention influence by aggregating attention weights scaled by value-vector magnitudes across all attention heads and layers. To expose internal tensors, the author instrumented the ONNX computation graph, hosted a modified model on Hugging Face, and pre-generated prompts to avoid long model downloads in the browser. Demos with a 600-million-parameter model show how verbatim copying draws heavily on source tokens and how single outputs blend information from multiple phrases.

Everything in Moderation: Per-Domain Coverage Optima and Alignment-Resistant Domain Gaps in Multi-Domain Mid-Training

Controlled mid-training experiments on Qwen3-8B-Base find each domain has a 10-40% coverage optimum and domain gaps survive alignment SFT.

Using Qwen3-8B-Base (with a 4B replication) across five semantically rule-disjoint KOR-Bench domains, the authors train 30 data allocations spanning the five-domain simplex at five seeds each. All five domains show interior optima in the moderate 10-40% coverage band, and domain gaps persist after a fixed-budget compensatory SFT pass, which raises 116/120 cells yet bridges 0/240 pairs at a 5% threshold. Zero coverage collapses mid-training-only accuracy, though a FineWeb-Edu-only control shows the collapse is partly generic drift. The results argue mid-training data composition requires principled design rather than reliance on later alignment.

Measuring Language Transfer in Robot Policies: Adding Greek to a Cosmos3 Vision-Language-Action Policy

Researchers added Greek to the Cosmos3 vision-language-action policy using only machine-rephrased instructions, finding bilingual training reaches roughly two fifths of English performance.

The paper studies localizing the open Cosmos3 vision-language-action robot policy to Greek without architectural changes, using machine-rephrased instructions only. Bilingual training yields a consistent 6.7-7.1 point margin over controls on a 90-task, three-seed evaluation suite, while Greek-only training gains at most 2.7 points. Several common evaluation instruments, including color-histogram metrics and single-goal benchmarks, produced false conclusions, and results were dominated by seed variation. The authors recommend building guaranteed-null baselines and replicating low-resource-language results across seeds.
