Adobe fixes critical Magento zero-day exploited to backdoor servers

Adobe emergency-patches actively exploited max-severity Magento/Adobe Commerce zero-day CVE-2026-75650 (StyleSmuggler), used since Sept 4 to backdoor servers.

Adobe released an emergency hotfix (VULN-39341) for CVE-2026-75650, a max-severity zero-day dubbed StyleSmuggler affecting Adobe Commerce 2.4.4-2.4.9, Adobe Commerce B2B 1.3.3-1.5.3, and Magento Open Source 2.4.6-2.4.9, enabling arbitrary code execution. Sansec reports the flaw has been exploited since at least September 4 to plant a backdoor whose C2 host is disguised as an NTP server, leaving traces like 'Payment Transaction Failed Reminder' emails. A second attacker with unrelated tooling is exploiting the flaw to deploy a 485-byte PHP web shell that collects server details, checks pub/media writability, and exfiltrates data to an oast.site subdomain. Adobe recommends immediate hotpatching plus rotation of all secrets including admin passwords, API keys, database credentials, and SSH keys.

GitLab Warns of Active Exploitation of Critical GraphQL Flaw

GitLab emergency-patches actively exploited flaw CVE-2026-19478 (CVSS 9.4), letting unauthenticated attackers modify or delete public projects on self-managed servers.

GitLab emergency-patched CVE-2026-19478 (CVSS 9.4) on August 17 after WatchTowr researchers warned of active exploitation. The flaw lets unauthenticated attackers remotely modify or delete public projects and user data through a GraphQL directive, affecting only self-managed installations. Fixes ship in versions 19.2.4, 19.1.6, 19.0.8, and 18.11.11; the 18.2-18.10 branches receive no patch and must upgrade. Until patching, defenders should restrict unauthenticated access to /api/graphql, disable public repositories, and hunt for @gl_introduced in logs.

Severity Is Not a Strategy: What CISA BOD 26-04 Means for the Future of Federal Software Security

CISA's BOD 26-04 replaces severity-based federal patching with risk-based remediation deadlines of 3, 14, or 60 days.

CISA's Binding Operational Directive 26-04, released June 10, 2026, replaces BOD 19-02 and BOD 22-01 for Federal Civilian Executive Branch agencies and shifts remediation prioritization from CVSS scores to risk context. Agencies assess four factors: public exposure, KEV listing, exploit automatability, and whether exploitation grants partial or total asset control, resulting in 3-, 14-, or 60-day remediation windows or next-upgrade fixes. In CISA's first review at a large civilian agency, only 1% of vulnerabilities required three-day remediation while over 60% could wait for future system upgrades. The directive also requires forensic analysis when exploitation is suspected, and Checkmarx argues the same risk-based logic must extend upstream into software development and SBOM-driven exposure management.

It notes disclosure-to-exploitation time has fallen from 21.5 days to hours.
