Hackers Exploit JFrog Artifactory Flaws to Bypass Authentication and Gain Admin Access

Wiz Research observes multiple attackers exploiting three JFrog Artifactory flaws, including default-configuration authentication bypass CVE-2026-82329, to gain admin access and deploy backdoors.

Attackers chain CVE-2026-42018 and CVE-2026-42016 to exchange anonymous JWTs for administrator-scoped tokens, or exploit CVE-2026-82329 directly via the registry join endpoint to obtain admin privileges under default configuration. Post-exploitation observed by Wiz includes persistent admin users created within five minutes, malicious Groovy plugins for command execution, and Rust-based backdoors dropped to /tmp, /var/tmp, and /dev/shm with C2 communications. Compromise exposes software artifacts, repository credentials, CI/CD integrations, and cluster secrets, creating supply chain risks. Fixed releases include 7.111.21, 7.117.28, 7.125.20, 7.133.29, 7.146.38, and 7.161.20.

Flextype CMS v1.0.0-alpha.3 exposes an SSRF flaw in its /api/v1/query endpoint, letting authenticated users make the server send arbitrary HTTP requests.

Flextype CMS v1.0.0-alpha.3 contains a server-side request forgery vulnerability in the expression-processing functionality of the /api/v1/query endpoint. An authenticated remote attacker can supply an arbitrary URL to the exposed fetch() function, causing the server to issue outbound HTTP requests. The application does not sufficiently restrict destination hosts, enabling requests to attacker-controlled or internal targets.

The /apps/onlyoffice/ajax/settings/address endpoint does not validate the user-supplied document server URL, so an authenticated administrator can make the ownCloud server send arbitrary requests to localhost and internal hosts. Differences in error responses (connection failures vs SSL/TLS errors) let attackers enumerate open and closed TCP ports for internal reconnaissance. The vendor could not be reached, so no official patch is available; CERT recommends disabling the plugin and applying egress filtering until a fix ships.

watchTowr observed active exploitation of CVE-2026-5430, a WSO2 API Manager JWT bypass using forged admin tokens, risking credential theft and account takeover.

CVE-2026-5430 (CVSS 9.8-10.0), an improper cryptographic signature verification flaw in WSO2 API Manager, lets JWT authentication be bypassed with unsupported algorithms, enabling administrative account takeover. watchTowr honeypots captured forged JWT tokens with baked-in administrator privileges on September 13, 2026, which could expose API credentials, consumer keys, and secrets for every registered application. CVE-2026-57866: Apache Impala: Secrets Exfiltration via SSRF

Apache Impala CVE-2026-57866 lets authenticated users abuse ai_generate_text() to exfiltrate secrets from configured Hadoop credential providers via SSRF.

A server-side request forgery affects Apache Impala versions 4.4.0 through 4.5.1. Authenticated users with permission to execute the ai_generate_text() function can exfiltrate secrets provided by credential providers configured via hadoop.security.credential.provider.path in core-site.xml. The attacker must know the secret's key name, and Apache rates the issue 'important'.

Critical GiveWP Flaw Lets Attackers Run Commands on WordPress Servers

Critical unauthenticated PHP object injection (CVE-2026-82222) in the GiveWP WordPress donation plugin chains to remote code execution; version 4.16.7.2 fixes it.

Patchstack disclosed CVE-2026-82222 (CVSS 10.0), an unauthenticated PHP object injection in GiveWP versions through 4.16.7.1 that chains through TCPDF and Give\TestData gadget classes to arbitrary OS command execution as the web server user. On versions 4.16.5.1 and below, a default installation with one published donation form is enough to exploit, with no user interaction required. A rant about phishing: It's not the user's fault (and not DNS either)

Opinion piece argues multi-domain login redirects make legitimate flows indistinguishable from phishing, urging organizations to standardize on one recognizable root domain.

The author shows a real-world login flow that chains through numerous third-party domains (identity providers, cloud auth endpoints, OAuth APIs, 2FA pages), none on the company's own domain, so credentials and 2FA prompts are trivially impersonable. The piece argues URLs are inherently confusing because the security-relevant second-level domain sits mid-string, and that users trained to ignore URLs cannot distinguish legitimate pages from scams. It proposes RFC 2119-style requirements: single recognizable root domain, internal services on its subdomains, emailed or SMS links on that domain, and local redirects instead of third-party hosted pages.

xHunt Campaign: New PowerShell Backdoor Blocked Through DNS Tunnel Detection

xHunt's new CASHY200 PowerShell backdoor used DNS tunneling for C2; DNS security blocked beaconing at a Kuwait organization in September 2019.

Unit 42 describes CASHY200, a new PowerShell-based backdoor tied to the xHunt campaign that communicates with its C2 server windows64x[.]com via DNS tunneling, parsing commands from DNS answers. In September 2019, a Kuwait-based organization's DNS security service blocked the beaconing minutes after detection, cutting off adversary access. Samples dating to May and June 2018 and open source collection suggest the tool was used against Kuwait government organizations from spring 2018 through 2019, with malicious Word documents observed installing CASHY200 payloads configured with C2 domains such as firewallsupports[.]com and winx64-microsoft[.]com. The tool's name derives from identifiers stored under the registry key HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Cashe and the command value 200.
