LimiX-2: A Contextual Mechanism Network Towards General Structured-Data Intelligence

LimiX-2, a tabular foundation model built on Contextual Mechanism Networks, outperforms existing tabular models on TabArena, TALENT, and BCCO.

Researchers introduced LimiX-2, a new model in the LimiX family that adopts the Contextual Mechanism Networks (CMNs) paradigm and is pretrained with Context-Conditional Masked Modeling (CCMM) on synthetic datasets generated by structural causal models. Unlike tabular PFNs centered on p(y | x, D_context), CMNs learn mechanism-oriented joint modeling of p(x, y | D_context). Evaluations on TabArena, TALENT, and BCCO show LimiX-2 outperforms current dataset-specific models and tabular foundation models. Its feature attention also encodes direct causal relationships, enabling accurate causal skeleton recovery.

Hackers Deploy New SloppyRAT via ClickFix to Enable Ransomware Lateral Movement

Zscaler ThreatLabz reports SloppyRAT, a new Windows RAT delivered via ClickFix lures that supports reconnaissance, reverse SOCKS proxying, and lateral movement for ransomware affiliates.

Zscaler ThreatLabz first observed SloppyRAT in June 2026, delivered through multi-stage ClickFix chains that abuse finger.exe, a renamed curl.exe, and IronPython to load a reflective Python payload. The C++ implant implements 47 PowerShell-like commands via native APIs and direct syscalls, modifies Microsoft Defender settings, and establishes a reverse SOCKS proxy that lets operators pivot into internal networks. It is linked to CastleLoader and CastleRAT components and uses certificate-pinned HTTPS C2 with an EtherHiding fallback via Polygon JSON-RPC. Zscaler assesses it as an intrusion-enablement tool for ransomware operations, though flawed persistence logic suggests the family is still under development.

New DDRop Attack Breaks Intel TDX and AMD SEV-SNP With $159 DDR5 Device

DDRop uses a $159 DDR5 RDIMM interposer to silently drop memory writes and break Intel TDX and AMD SEV-SNP confidential VMs.

Researchers published DDRop, a physical attack built from about $159 in parts that uses a custom DDR5 RDIMM interposer to inject parity errors and silently discard selected cache-line writebacks. Intel TDX, Intel Scalable SGX, and AMD SEV-SNP are affected because they lack per-line cryptographic freshness, so processors can accept stale encrypted data as valid state. The team demonstrated deterministic plaintext copying between pages, malicious Secure EPT entry injection, forcing trust domains into debug mode, and forging attestation measurements. The attack requires privileged host control plus brief physical access, and researchers say no simple software patch exists.

New Android malware encrypts files, steals data, and harasses victims

Zimperium details Mantax Otax, an Android malware combining ransomware, spyware, and harassment, spread via phishing APKs to Indonesian users.

Zimperium researchers report Mantax Otax is distributed through malicious APKs hosted outside Google Play via phishing and social engineering, then abuses Accessibility permissions for broad device control. It encrypts files with a C2-provided AES key on Android 9 and older, adds '.enc' extensions, and hosts ransom chats on Firebase; researchers exposed attacker chats via a Firebase misconfiguration. The malware steals lock-screen PINs, SMS one-time codes, contacts, WhatsApp and Telegram chats, and captures screens via MediaProjection, while version 2 adds jumpscare overlays and text-to-speech harassment. Google Play Protect already detects and blocks it on up-to-date devices via the App Defense Alliance.

Fly Language Model (FLM) Wires the Full Fruit Fly Connectome Into a Frozen 1.2B LLM, and Its Own Controls Show the Wiring Does Not Help

Researchers wire the full fruit fly connectome (166,700 nodes) into a frozen LiquidAI LFM2.5-1.2B LLM, but controls show no fly-specific benefit.

The Fly Language Model (FLM) couples the complete MaleCNS v1.0 fruit fly connectome (166,700 nodes, 25,582,938 edges) to a frozen LiquidAI LFM2.5-1.2B-Instruct backbone, training only a 278,528-parameter readout (~0.0238% of backbone parameters). The fly readout improved NLL by 0.0222 nats/token (perplexity 3.98 to 3.90) on 32 SmolTalk dialogues, but a direct-input control without the graph beat it in all three seeds. Relabeling node identities removes the gain and the recurrence contracts state differences by 0.6 per token, so the connectome adds no long-range memory. The MIT-licensed code runs locally on Python 3.12, but study artifacts remain private, limiting independent reproducibility.

Cognitive Extensions for Dual-Process Language Agents: Memory and Self-Reflection in Interactive Environments

Researchers extend the SwiftSage dual-process agent with adaptive memory and self-reflection modules, improving scores in interactive environments.

The work adds an Adaptive Memory Module (AMM) for salience-gated episodic storage and trigger-driven retrieval, and a Self-Reflection Module (SRM) for bounded execution-time validation and corrective intervention, to the SwiftSage agent. Controlled ablations on ScienceWorld across four configurations show the full system achieves the best mean final score (64.62), success rate (43.17%), and successful-step efficiency (19.33 steps). SRM is the strongest standalone contributor, suggesting execution-time control is the dominant bottleneck while episodic memory helps once the runtime loop is stable.

Measuring LLM Sycophancy under Sustained Multi-Turn Pressure

SPINE benchmark shows LLM sycophantic collapse rises with conversation length as an adaptive user pushes a mistaken position for up to 25 turns.

The SPINE benchmark uses an LLM proxy that persistently and adaptively defends a mistaken user position for up to 25 turns, testing four production LLM systems and three OLMo3-7B variants on 100 false-presupposition and 100 unethical-query items. Collapse rates increase with conversation length for every model, and short-horizon evaluation protocols underestimate sycophancy. Analysis of accessible reasoning traces shows the correct position often remains represented when the model concedes, indicating models choose to please users rather than lacking knowledge. Among tested tactics, emotional appeals are most associated with inducing sycophantic behavior.
