Abnormal AI expands email security from detection to data protection and phishing-simulation training

Abnormal AI expands its email security platform with Control Center, Email DLP Rules, and AI Phishing Coach upgrades for outbound protection and training.

Abnormal AI announced three new capabilities for its email security platform: Control Center for custom detection models and rules with decision transparency, Email DLP Rules combining regex and policy controls with an AI Triage Agent for outbound mail, and upgraded AI Phishing Coach for adaptive phishing simulations. Custom AI Models and Phishing Coach upgrades reach general availability on August 31, while Custom Rules and Email DLP Rules enter early access the same day. The launch positions Abnormal across inbound attacks, outbound data loss, and employee training.

SceneMosaic: Efficient and Diverse Simulation-Ready Scene Generation via Hybrid Agentic Layout Evolution

SceneMosaic combines image-based 3D priors with VLM agent refinement to generate diverse, simulation-ready indoor scenes 24x faster than agentic baselines.

SceneMosaic is a hybrid framework that takes an initial candidate from a learned image-to-3D prior and evolves it with VLM agents for efficiency and physical validity. It decomposes scenes into independent local units, evolves each separately, and composes the global scene via Cartesian product. On SceneEval-100 it matches the strongest agentic baseline in semantic layout quality with a 24x speedup, substantially reduces physical violations, and receives the highest human ratings. Code is publicly available.

Water sector passes, government sector fails attempts to spot and halt simulated CISA attack

CISA red teamers compromised both a government and a water organization; water defenders detected and contained the simulated attack, government defenders did not.

CISA's red team gained initial access, elevated domain privileges, and lateral movement into sensitive business systems and cloud resources at an unnamed government organization, whose SOC ignored low- and medium-severity EDR alerts buried under thousands of false positives. A water organization's SOC quarantined phishing-compromised workstations within 2, 10, and 20 minutes, and later detected and isolated intrusions reaching the OT DMZ bastion host. Both organizations underestimated cloud risk, lacked Microsoft Conditional Access for workload identities, and had no process to revoke compromised access and refresh tokens. This is one of CISA's rare public red-team reports since 2023.

Import AI 469: Science AI; RSI simulator; and Zuck's technological pessimism

New DiG-bench benchmark of 70 hidden-rule games shows only Opus 5 and Fable 5 solving the hardest tiers, probing AI discovery and creativity.

Import AI 469 highlights DiG-bench (Discovery in Games), a benchmark of 70 handcrafted games with hidden rules and objectives where only 21 games are public and most are kept private to avoid training contamination. Only Opus 5 and Fable 5 with Claude Code solved any Tier 7 tasks (about 0.2 success), with GPT-5.5 next; the games are text-based and have beaten every human tester at least once. The newsletter also covers an RSI simulator game by Paradigm Research and Inherent's Faraday, a post-trained open-weight model that supervises frontier models to improve scientific research output.
