CVE-2026-87779: Apache Syncope: AES Secret Key disclosure via log output

Apache Syncope's CVE-2026-87779 exposes AES secret keys in log output when keys use non-standard lengths, rated important.

CVE-2026-87779 is an important-severity insertion of sensitive information into log file vulnerability in Apache Syncope. When an AES key of non-standard length (not 16, 24 or 32 bytes) is used, the secret key can be disclosed via log output. Affected versions are syncope-core-spring 3.0.15 through 3.0.16, 4.0.3 through 4.0.7, and 4.1.0-M0 through 4.1.2.

ZDI-26-622: Microsoft Windows IKEv2 AES-GCM Decryption Integer Underflow Remote Code Execution Vulnerability

ZDI disclosed CVE-2026-50696, a CVSS 8.1 integer underflow in Windows IKEv2 AES-GCM decryption enabling unauthenticated remote code execution on specific IPsec configurations.

The Zero Day Initiative published ZDI-26-622 describing a remote code execution vulnerability in Microsoft Windows' IKEv2 AES-GCM decryption path, caused by an integer underflow. Authentication is not required for exploitation, but only systems using specific IPsec configurations are affected. ZDI assigned the vulnerability a CVSS score of 8.1 and the identifier CVE-2026-50696.

Rogue ScreenConnect Installations Across Unrelated Hosts Suggest Worm-Like Activity

Huntress observed rogue ScreenConnect deployments with worm-like VBScript propagation across unrelated organizations, prompting a ConnectWise advisory on file transfer behavior.

Huntress identified multiple incidents in late August 2026 where social engineering led to rogue ScreenConnect remote access clients deployed on victim machines, which then spawned wscript.exe to run four VBScript payloads (1.vbs through 4.vbs) for profiling, telemetry collection, and persistence via a WindowsServiceHost Run key. Modified ScreenConnect clients propagated the VBScript chain to connected endpoints, creating worm-like spread. ConnectWise published an advisory on September 3, 2026, confirming an issue affecting file transfer behavior in both cloud and on-premises ScreenConnect deployments, with a CVE and fix expected within the week; partners were advised to review and disable TransferFiles permissions in the interim.

Zero-Click Grok Chat History Theft: Adversa AI Demonstrates Cryptographic Context Injection

Adversa AI's Cryptographic Context Injection bypasses AI guardrails using AES-encrypted payloads, enabling zero-click theft of Grok users' full chat histories.

Adversa AI researcher Rony Utevsky disclosed Cryptographic Context Injection, which hides instructions in AES-256-GCM ciphertext and tricks models into decrypting them inside their own code execution runtime, where the output is treated as trusted. Demonstrated against xAI's Grok, it stole user names, locations, subscription tiers, and full chat histories with zero clicks, and against Google's Gemini to bypass safety rules, generate incendiary-device instructions, and expose system instructions. Reported to xAI on June 3, 2026, the Grok attack remained reproducible as of August 19, 2026; the Gemini issue was not formally reported because Google's bug bounty excludes jailbreaks.
