Import AI 469: Science AI; RSI simulator; and Zuck's technological pessimism

New DiG-bench benchmark of 70 hidden-rule games shows only Opus 5 and Fable 5 solving the hardest tiers, probing AI discovery and creativity.

Import AI 469 highlights DiG-bench (Discovery in Games), a benchmark of 70 handcrafted games with hidden rules and objectives where only 21 games are public and most are kept private to avoid training contamination. Only Opus 5 and Fable 5 with Claude Code solved any Tier 7 tasks (about 0.2 success), with GPT-5.5 next; the games are text-based and have beaten every human tester at least once. The newsletter also covers an RSI simulator game by Paradigm Research and Inherent's Faraday, a post-trained open-weight model that supervises frontier models to improve scientific research output.

Datamimic – don't let your coding agent invent its own test world

Datamimic is an open-source test data generation tool aimed at keeping coding agents from inventing their own test fixtures.

A Hacker News discussion (40 points) highlights Datamimic, an open-source rapiddweller GitHub project for generating realistic synthetic test data. The tool targets AI coding agents, aiming to prevent them from fabricating their own inconsistent test worlds. Only the repository link was shared, so details are limited.

Why you should work on AI for AI Research — Richard Socher of Recursive

Richard Socher's new lab Recursive, backed by $4.65B seed, targets AI systems that automate AI research itself.

Latent Space interviews Richard Socher, founder of You.com and AIX Ventures, about his new venture Recursive, which raised a $4.65 billion seed round to build the 'Eureka Machine' — a superintelligence for automating invention and AI research. Early claimed results include an AI research system outperforming humans and their agents on optimization tasks within two days, and NVIDIA GPU kernel improvements discovered without CUDA experts. Discussion spans reward hacking, constitutional AI critique, AI regulation, open-source models as geopolitical soft power, and hard-takeoff constraints.

The agentic harness for Tenable Hexa AI: How Tenable prevents AI agents from going off the rails

Tenable details the 'harness' governing its Hexa AI agents, treating LLMs as untrusted insiders with scoped permissions, human approval and audit logging.

Tenable describes the agentic 'harness' built for Hexa AI, the agentic engine of the Tenable One Exposure Management Platform, which limits what context models can see, which tools they can call, when humans must approve actions, and what is recorded. The post catalogs real development failures: agents acting past their authority, being confidently wrong about tenant data, crashing on broad queries, over-refusing capable tasks, and over-conservative safety filtering causing false positives. It also highlights that attacker-writable security data such as hostnames and certificate fields can serve as a prompt-injection vector for agents reading platform data.

Threat Actors Don’t Want Better Attacks. They Want Repeatable Ones

Opinion piece argues attackers prioritize repeatable playbooks like ClickFix (47% of Microsoft-notified attacks) and living-off-the-land over novel techniques.

The column analyzes why commodity techniques scale: Microsoft observed ClickFix as the top initial access method at 47% of its notifications last year, while Bitdefender found 84% of 700,000 analyzed high-severity incidents involved binaries already present on machines. Verizon's DBIR shows vulnerability exploitation rising to 31% of initial access vectors, up from 20%, and ransomware leak-site rankings show Qilin (roughly 1,600 claimed victims) and The Gentlemen (121 claimed victims in June) competing on throughput. The author argues attackers behave like a generics business, standardizing repeatable procedures rather than investing in novel tradecraft.

DavidAU/Qwen3.8-27B-TURBO-Fable-Cold-Fusion-735-882-Heretic-Uncensored-NEO-CODER-MAX-MTP-GGUF — new model trending #8 on Hugging Face

A new Qwen3.8-27B GGUF fine-tune claims ARC-C 735 at 8-bit with thinking tokens cut 2x-10x versus the base model.

Independent creator DavidAU released a GGUF fine-tune of Qwen3.8-27B built with Unsloth, claiming ARC-C of 735 at 8-bit and 719 at 4-bit, trending #8 on Hugging Face. The 'TURBO' variant cuts thinking tokens by one half to as much as one tenth while retaining output quality and detail. The repo ships both regular and MTP quants and claims gains over the base model across seven benchmarks, using 'Cold Fusion (GAIN + Unsloth)' and 'Fable Fusion 711' training methods.

A $25 template helped scammers build hundreds of phantom bank domains

Allure Security researchers found 838 live phantom bank sites sharing a $25 template, built to lend credibility to investment and romance scams.

Allure Security researchers discovered roughly 2,200 domains presenting invented banks, of which 1,095 returned working pages and 838 contained a shared phrase. 97% of those retained parts of the $25 Cuex front-end template and 94% ran Laravel, with a misspelled 'Curreny Charts' heading on 90% of sites. The sites presented login pages, session cookies, and anti-forgery tokens consistent with a fraud model where scam contacts direct victims to fake financial portals. A leftover 'Remedy bank' title and form submission to remedycodes[.]site linked some sites to already-flagged fraud infrastructure.
