VU#859658: Skullcandy Dime 3 wireless earbuds contain an unauthenticated Bluetooth pairing vulnerability

Skullcandy Dime 3 earbuds (CVE-2025-20701) accept Bluetooth pairings without owner consent, letting in-range attackers hijack audio or capture microphone; no firmware update path exists.

CERT/CC's VU#859658 describes CVE-2025-20701 in the Airoha Bluetooth audio SDK, present in Skullcandy Dime 3 (Model S2DCW) firmware 1.0.0.28. A direct Bluetooth Classic pairing request with no PIN or physical confirmation completes via NoInputNoOutput, adding the attacker's device as trusted. Attackers in radio range can hijack the A2DP audio session, access the Hands-Free/Headset profile, and capture live microphone audio. Firmware 1.0.0.30 contains the effective patch, but Skullcandy says the Dime 3 does not support app-based firmware updates, leaving existing units unpatchable.

Learning 3D Editing without Paired Supervision via Generative Prior Distillation

New framework distills 2D editing and VLM priors into a feed-forward 3D editing model without paired 3D training data.

The method, PriorEdit3D, learns feed-forward instruction-guided 3D editing by distilling knowledge from foundation models instead of using ground-truth 3D pairs. Through a differentiable rendering pipeline it supervises a 2D visual prior from an image editing model at the main view and a Vision-Language Model semantic prior at novel views for instruction fidelity and identity preservation. A 3D-aware Distribution Matching regularization constrains outputs to the manifold of realistic 3D assets defined by a pretrained image-to-3D teacher. Experiments report superior instruction fidelity and cross-view consistency over state-of-the-art baselines, with code released on GitHub.

EFI Pairs Without One-Way Puzzles: Oracle Separations from Communication Complexity

Theorists build a classical oracle where one-way puzzles fail yet EFI pairs survive, separating two candidate minimal assumptions of quantum cryptography.

The paper constructs a single classical oracle relative to which one-way puzzles do not exist, even with an unbounded verifier, while an EFI pair survives every classical-query distinguisher holding advice, making one superposition query at the end. Security is proven by reducing adversary knowledge to communication complexity for Vector-in-Subspace, with the superposition query bounded using random matrix theory. Relative to the oracle, quantum polynomial time offers no advantage on tasks with classical inputs and outputs and there is no proof of quantumness, separating the leading minimal assumptions of quantum cryptography.

Skullcandy Dime 3 earbuds expose users to Bluetooth hijacking

CERT/CC warns Skullcandy Dime 3 earbuds accept silent Bluetooth pairings via CVE-2025-20701, letting nearby attackers hijack audio and microphone.

CERT/CC reports the Skullcandy Dime 3 (model S2DCW) running firmware 1.0.0.28 is affected by CVE-2025-20701, a high-severity missing-authentication flaw in the Airoha Bluetooth Audio SDK. An attacker in close range can pair without user interaction, then hijack audio playback, access the headset profile, and capture live microphone audio. Skullcandy fixed the issue in firmware 1.0.0.30, but existing units have no consumer-accessible update path via the app. The flaw was discovered by ERNW researchers and affects earbud and headphone products from multiple vendors; Apple patched it for Beats Studio Buds in June.

WindRelay Malware Pairs With SpyNote RAT in Live-Call Scam

New WindRelay Android NFC-relay malware paired with SpyNote RAT enables real-time card cloning during live scam calls.

Infosecurity Magazine reports on WindRelay, a new Android NFC relay malware that was used together with the SpyNote RAT. The malware let a fraudster relay a victim's contactless card data in real time during a live social-engineering call, enabling the card to be cloned mid-call. The attack combines mobile RAT infection with near-field-communication relaying to defeat contactless payment protections.

THost9 Android RAT Pairs Packed Loader With ADB Worm

Dark Atlas details THost9, a packed Android RAT paired with an ADB worm that installs itself on devices with exposed Android Debug Bridge services.

Dark Atlas researchers described the Hagaseca cluster, whose THost9 packed loader hides executable code in an embedded asset decoded with single-byte XOR and gzip before loading a tc9.dex second stage. The second stage adds shell execution, file transfer, tunneling, reverse shells, downloadable modules and a self-propagating ADB worm that expands single addresses into 65,025-host scan ranges. Newer builds include anti-analysis checks for Frida, and incident reports connect THost9 and THost4 to Android phones and Redroid containers with exposed ADB from October 2024 through 2026.

ECHO: A Matched-Contrast Benchmark for Context-Sensitive Turn-Taking in Full-Duplex Dialogue

ECHO benchmark pairs identical-overlap Chinese dialogue examples with contrasting contexts, revealing most full-duplex systems bias toward yielding the floor.

ECHO is a paired diagnostic benchmark for Chinese full-duplex turn-taking that matches examples with identical overlap transcripts but contrasting preceding multi-turn contexts, one requiring Yield and the other Keep. It also includes off-talk examples for diagnosing unnecessary yielding and introduces pair accuracy, which grants no credit to constant-action policies. Experiments across multiple full-duplex systems show most exhibit a pronounced Yield bias, performing substantially better on interruptions than backchannels. The benchmark and metadata will be publicly released.

Top 10 Best Cloud Workload Protection (CWPP) Solutions in 2026

Editorial scorecard ranks 2026 cloud workload protection platforms, placing Prisma Cloud first, Sysdig second, and CrowdStrike third on detection quality.

A research-based scorecard rates ten cloud workload protection (CWPP) platforms across runtime depth, container/Kubernetes support, coverage breadth, cloud context, and value. Palo Alto Prisma Cloud leads at 8.9, followed by Sysdig at 8.8 and CrowdStrike at 8.6, with Aqua Security tying CrowdStrike at 8.6. The piece argues agent-versus-agentless is a false choice, with leaders now pairing agentless visibility with eBPF-based runtime sensors. Scores are editorial assessments, not lab benchmarks.

From Parameters to Answers: How LLMs Retrieve and Use Their Internal Knowledge

Interpretability study traces how Qwen, Llama, and Gemma route query information and internal knowledge across layers when answering questions.

Researchers used layerwise interventions on hidden states to separate query-routing signals from target knowledge in language models, testing Qwen, Llama, and Gemma on country-continent questions with varied answer types. A pair-conditioned request direction strengthens before interventions alter downstream knowledge, opening a causal window while answer-supporting content is still forming. Trajectories differ by model: Gemma shows a partially overlapping mid-layer routing profile, while Llama has no sustained routing-effect window under the same gates.

Emergency Department Revisit Quality Review Screening: Exploring Human Decision-Making and Artificial Intelligence Support

A retrospective study found GPT-4 over-flagged emergency department revisit cases while an LLM knowledge-graph screener achieved 83-100% positive predictive value.

In an exploratory retrospective study of 99 emergency department diagnosis pairs from a multihospital health system, clinicians and GPT-4 independently judged whether revisit pairs warranted further assessment. GPT-4 responses correlated poorly with clinicians, flagging 94% of pairs for follow-up, 4.4-13.3 times more than clinicians, though prompt engineering was minimal. An algorithm leveraging an LLM-populated knowledge graph (KGA) achieved 83-100% positive predictive value against at least one clinician rater, suggesting LLM-based screening could broaden revisit quality review without substantially increasing reviewer workload.
