Security Incident – BGP Hijacking

Attackers BGP-hijacked Softaculous' Hetzner IP block for 33 hours, obtained valid TLS certificates, and delivered a malicious Virtualizor update to some servers.

Between August 28 and 30, 2026, AS62390 (NexonHost) announced 162.55.80.0/24 via transit AS6204 (Zet.net) without authorization, diverting traffic while retaining Hetzner's AS24940 on the AS path. The attacker obtained valid Let's Encrypt certificates for virtualizor.com domains because the CA's domain validation was also routed through the hijack, so affected connections showed no TLS warnings. A malicious Virtualizor update package reached a handful of installations; routing was fully restored, and reconstruction from RIPE RIS data showed all 368 collector peers carried the hijacked route at some point with roughly 28% time-weighted diversion.

BGP hijack infecting networks caused by a comedy of errors that’s not funny at all

Attackers BGP-hijacked Softaculous IP space via Hetzner routing lapses to push malicious Virtualizor updates to hosting servers.

Unknown attackers hijacked the 162.55.80.0/24 prefix used by Softaculous' Virtualizor update service by abusing lax routing security at hosting provider Hetzner Online, announcing the range through AS6204, AS62390, and AS24940 with a forged but RPKI-valid origin. The hijack pulsed intermittently over roughly 33 hours, delivering modified update packages to Virtualizor servers, which lacked cryptographic code signing for updates. Softaculous says only a small number of servers were likely affected but cannot produce a definitive list, urging administrators to treat every Virtualizor server as in scope for checks.

When an Attacker Meets a Group of Agents: Navigating Amazon Bedrock's Multi

Unit 42 red-teamed Amazon Bedrock multi-agent applications, demonstrating prompt-injection attack chains that leak agent instructions and invoke tools, mitigated by Bedrock Guardrails.

Unit 42 red-teamed Amazon Bedrock Agents' multi-agent collaboration in Supervisor and Supervisor with Routing modes. The demonstrated attack chain detects the operating mode, discovers collaborator agents, delivers attacker-controlled payloads, and can disclose agent instructions and tool schemas and invoke tools with attacker-supplied inputs. No vulnerabilities were found in Bedrock itself, and the built-in prompt attack Guardrail blocked the attacks when properly configured. The researchers collaborated with Amazon's security team and frame the findings as a broader prompt injection risk for LLM-based systems.

AdaptVPR: Route-Aware Hard Positive Generation for Robust Visual Place Recognition

AdaptVPR generates route-aware synthetic hard positives for visual place recognition, releasing the 160K-image AdaptCities dataset with R@1 gains up to 9.2% under domain shift.

AdaptVPR is a generative augmentation framework that creates same-place hard positives under illumination, weather, seasonal, and dynamic-occlusion shifts for robust visual place recognition training. A vision-language model parses scene attributes and estimates editability, while a rule-based scheduler routes generation through global appearance, local occlusion, or dual perturbation routes with geometric-consistency verification. The resulting AdaptCities dataset contains 160K verified synthetic hard positives, and experiments show R@1 gains up to 9.2% across VPR baselines and backbones. Code and data are publicly released on GitHub.

Task-Directed Residual AddUNet:Perfect-Reconstruction Routing for Full-Rate Representations

Paper recasts additive U-Net skip structure as a perfect-reconstruction filter bank and adds full-rate residual routing for task-directed representations.

The work proves a constrained additive U-Net's survivor-skip structure is exactly equivalent to a critically sampled perfect-reconstruction filter bank, and removes complementary-subband restrictions via a full-rate formulation. A Residual Full-Rate PR architecture routes task-irrelevant or redundant structure away from the task pathway while guaranteeing exact reconstruction without invertible operators, a matched synthesis bank, or a learned decoder. On TIMIT, the front-end improves test PER from 28.60±2.09% to 25.76±0.41% with recognizer and training held fixed.

Signed Rescue Routing: Harm-Aware Cascades for Efficient LLM Inference

Signed Rescue Routing improves LLM cascade efficiency by predicting when a larger model actually corrects a smaller one rather than uncertainty.

Signed Rescue Routing (SRR) is a budgeted cascade method that separately predicts rescues and regressions when escalating from a small to a large model, ranking requests by their signed difference. The authors prove this signed conditional gain is Bayes-optimal under a fixed escalation budget and add only a lightweight two-head router needing small-model output statistics at deployment. Evaluation with Qwen3-4B and Qwen3-8B on MMLU, HellaSwag, and ARC-Challenge shows better accuracy-compute tradeoffs than entropy routing and learned error predictors.

737 Chrome VPN Extensions Caught Routing Traffic Through Proxies. Check If You Have One

Researchers found 737 Chrome VPN extensions, many impersonating brands like NordVPN, routing roughly 75,000 users' browser traffic through attacker-controlled SOCKS5 proxies.

Socket and researcher Kush Pandya identified 737 Chrome VPN and proxy extensions, published across at least 40 developer accounts with 75,486 installs, that route entire browser sessions through one provider's SOCKS5 proxies on port 1082. Of these, 274 impersonate 66 established brands including Proton VPN, NordVPN, Surfshark, ExpressVPN, and Cloudflare 1.1.1.1. The proxy bypass list only excludes loopback addresses, exposing visited destinations, source IPs, TLS SNI values, and plain-HTTP request bodies to the operator. 221 extensions have been removed from the Chrome Web Store while 516 remain listed as active.

The Router Within: Eliciting Native Skill Routing from a Frozen LLM

Gavel reads skill-routing signals from a frozen LLM's forward passes with two linear maps, beating retrieval pipelines by up to 21.9 points.

Gavel (Glance And Verdict) shows a frozen agent LLM already contains skill-routing signals in its forward passes, read out via two trained linear maps without loading skill text into context. A glance step scores the full library using mid-layer states and per-skill banks built in one forward pass; a verdict step fuses the model's own likelihood and yes/no judgment as a product of experts. Trained once, it transfers zero-shot to three public benchmarks and SkillTraj (372 simulated agent trajectories); on Qwen3-32B it beats progressive disclosure and retrieve-and-rerank pipelines adding 1.2B-16B external parameters by up to 13.4 points (21.9 mid-rollout).

IBIB: A Protocol for Measuring Enterprise AI Systems by Serving Route, Not Model Identifier

IB2 protocol scores enterprise AI systems by serving route with reliability-inclusive scoring; serving-arm choice moved one score from 77.38 to 82.54.

The protocol has three parts: a gold-blind capability-binding preflight verifying a route can execute the evaluation contract, a reliability-inclusive first-pass scoring rule, and structurally score-blind adjudication. Its reference instantiation uses 128 locked tasks and 987 assertions over document, spreadsheet, chart, tool, and database work, released as procedure and schemas rather than an exposed corpus. Across eleven systems, two complete runs on identical weights later failed distinct binding-gate predicates, four of seven suites saturate within a six-system band driven by governed database work and multi-tab joins, and excluding failed responses from denominators changes the point ordering. Serving-arm choice shifted one declared revision and precision from 77.38 to 82.54, though arms differed in access mode, harness generation, and the tool-call parser.

NeoHorse-1: Towards Recursive Self-Improvement via Agentic Post-Training with Routing Harness

NeoHorse-1 introduces agentic post-training with intelligent routing that lifts agent benchmark scores at 4B and 9B scales, prototyping recursive self-improvement.

NeoHorse-1 is a family of agent-native models trained through agentic post-training: routing-harness logs (predicted capability demand, service tier, interaction) become structurally validated training data organized into a three-stage SFT curriculum plus routing-guided on-policy distillation. Capability-guided allocation converts evaluation feedback into the next training mixture, closing an evaluation-selection-update loop. Post-training raises the macro-average from 58.94 to 64.87 at 4B and from 65.60 to 69.04 at 9B across eleven agent, tool-use, coding, and instruction-following benchmarks. The authors position it as a prototype of harness-mediated recursive self-improvement.
