WordPress Security Plugins: How to Choose the Right One

Sucuri's guide breaks WordPress security plugins into hardening, malware scanning, integrity monitoring, and filtering types, and explains how to evaluate and layer them.

The Sucuri guide explains that WordPress security plugins bundle five capabilities - hardening, malware detection, integrity monitoring, activity logging, and application-level filtering - and that plugins run only after WordPress loads, unlike server-level firewalls. It lists leading causes of compromise: outdated plugins and themes, weak or reused credentials, nulled premium software, insecure configuration, and shared-hosting cross-contamination. It concludes with evaluation criteria and a post-installation security checklist for owners without dedicated security teams.

When AI Remembers Too Much

Unit 42 PoC shows indirect prompt injection can poison Amazon Bedrock Agent long-term memory, enabling silent exfiltration of conversation history across future sessions.

Palo Alto Networks Unit 42 published a proof of concept showing that indirect prompt injection can silently poison the long-term memory of Amazon Bedrock Agents when the memory feature is enabled. Malicious content on a webpage or document manipulates the agent's session summarization process, so injected instructions persist across sessions and are added to later orchestration prompts, silently exfiltrating user conversation history. The issue is not a vulnerability in the Amazon Bedrock platform but an illustration of the broader unsolved LLM prompt-injection challenge. Amazon reviewed the research and stated that Bedrock Guardrails with the prompt-attack policy provides effective mitigation.

AD Rights Management Service (Part 2): Extraction, Offline Decryption, and the Unrotatable Key

Huntress research shows AD RMS SLC root key is unrotatable and never expires, so its compromise permanently exposes all RMS-protected documents.

Part 2 of Huntress's AD RMS series details server-side attacks: extracting the Server Licensor Certificate (SLC) private key and performing offline decryption of protected documents. The SLC key has no expiry or rotation mechanism, with a 255-year certificate validity (2002–2258), so whoever recovers it can decrypt every document the deployment ever protected, indefinitely. The author released SharpRMS, a unified tool combining the 2016 DisARMS client-side attacks with new server-side key extraction and decryption capabilities. The research frames the SLC as comparable to KRBTGT and the DPAPI domain backup key, though not equivalent to domain compromise.

BleachBit 6.0.4 fixes secure wiping that skipped clusters on Windows

BleachBit 6.0.4 fixes Windows secure-wipe bugs that skipped fragmented-file clusters, adds HSTS tracker deletion, early macOS support, and broad hardening.

The open-source cleaner BleachBit released version 6.0.4, fixing Windows shredding bugs where fragmented files were wiped incompletely because noncontiguous clusters were skipped, leaving potentially sensitive data on disk. The release adds deletion of dynamic HSTS tracking data in six Chromium-based browsers and Zen, early macOS support including a Safari cleaner and full CLI, plus hardening such as absolute paths for ipconfig/taskkill, symlink and reparse-point handling, DTD-free XML parsing, and PATH/environment sanitization when running as root.

What happens when AI agent governance is missing at scale

meshIQ engineering head Gourab Basu argues AI agent governance must inspect proposed tool calls in-flow, since prompts alone cannot control nondeterministic agents.

In a Help Net Security interview, Gourab Basu, Global Head of Engineering at meshIQ, argues that prompt instructions are an insufficient control boundary for nondeterministic AI agents. He advocates a framework-independent governance engine that inspects proposed tool calls and parameters before execution, citing an example of pausing refunds above $100 for human approval. He warns that scaling from ten to a thousand agents makes manual oversight and destination-side controls unworkable, so governance must sit inside the agent execution flow across frameworks such as FastMCP.

Metasploit Wrap Up: This One Goes to Sixteen!

Metasploit adds 16 modules including 10 exploits, five covering CISA KEV vulnerabilities in Cisco, SonicWall, PaperCut, JetBrains and Langflow.

Rapid7's weekly Metasploit update ships 16 new modules, 10 of them exploit modules, with five targeting CISA KEV entries. New exploits cover Cisco Secure Firewall Management Center auth bypass (CVE-2026-20079), a SonicWall SMA1000 SSRF-to-root RCE chain (CVE-2026-83548/CVE-2026-83549), JetBrains TeamCity deserialization RCE (CVE-2026-63077), PaperCut NG/MF chain (CVE-2026-81578/CVE-2026-82078), and Langflow authenticated RCE (CVE-2026-19295). The SonicWall and PaperCut chains were reported as actively exploited zero-days, and a new ESC8 relay module exploits CVE-2026-20929 against AD CS Web Enrollment.

IFM Releases K2 Horizon: Six Apache 2.0 Models From 0.9B to 375B

MBZUAI's IFM released K2 Horizon, six Apache 2.0 models (0.9B-375B) with open training data, code, and checkpoints, claiming the largest fully open-source launch.

The Institute of Foundation Models (IFM), launched by MBZUAI, released K2 Horizon: six Apache 2.0 models (0.9B, 3.7B, 7B, 32B, 36B-A4B, 375B-A23B) shipping with the ~20-trillion-token pretraining corpus, intermediate checkpoints, training code, and logs, which IFM calls the largest fully open-source launch in AI history. The 375B-A23B scores 70.2 on Terminal-Bench 2.1 and 87.3 on GPQA Diamond; the 7B model posts 70.6 on SWE-bench Verified. New techniques include MoVA, which extends MoE routing into attention (36B total, ~4B active), and Uno, a LoRA adapter giving roughly 3x lossless decoding speedup. IFM's own reward-hacking audit re-scored 375B-A23B from 70.2% to 66.9% after flagging 24 of 712 Terminal-Bench trials.
