CISA has published ICS Medical Advisory ICSMA-26-253-01 covering three vulnerabilities in NextGen Mirth Connect, the open-source healthcare integration engine. The flaws include SQL injection and XML external entity (XXE) injection, tracked as CVE-2026-82583, CVE-2026-78224 and CVE-2026-82578, with testing performed against version 4.5.2. The findings were announced on the oss-security mailing list by researcher Abhinav Agarwal on September 11.

Cisco has released software updates; no workarounds address these vulnerabilities.

Ubuntu patches SimpleSAMLphp signature validation and XXE flaws enabling user impersonation, privilege escalation, and information disclosure.

Ubuntu security notice USN-8770-1 fixes multiple SimpleSAMLphp vulnerabilities. CVE-2019-3465 stems from incorrect cryptographic signature validation in XML messages, allowing an authenticated attacker to impersonate users or gain elevated privileges; it only affected Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and 18.04 LTS. CVE-2024-52596 involves improper handling of external entities when parsing untrusted XML, allowing a remote attacker to obtain sensitive information, and did not affect Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. An additional flaw in signature verification for SAML messages using the HTTP-Redirect binding is also addressed.

Cisco BroadWorks Out-of-Band Blind XML External Entity Injection Vulnerability

Cisco patched an XXE flaw in BroadWorks' OCI XML parser letting unauthenticated remote attackers read sensitive files from the filesystem.

Cisco BroadWorks permits external entity resolution by default in its Open Client Interface XML parser, enabling out-of-band blind XXE injection. An unauthenticated remote attacker can send crafted XML to the OCI-P provisioning service and read sensitive configuration files with BroadWorks user privileges. Cisco has released software updates and no workarounds are available.

GeoNetwork Fixes Unauthenticated RCE Chain Affecting Government Geoportal Backends

GeoNetwork patched two chained flaws (CVE-2026-63219, CVE-2026-58400) enabling unauthenticated RCE in government geospatial metadata catalogs.

Two flaws in the open-source GeoNetwork catalog chain into unauthenticated RCE: a missing authorization check on the formatter upload endpoint (CVE-2026-63219, CVSS 8.6) and an unsafe Saxon XSLT processor configuration allowing Java execution (CVE-2026-58400, CVSS 9.1). Fixes shipped in versions 4.4.12 and 4.2.17 on July 8, 2026, with details published August 31. Ethiack fingerprinted 121 internet-exposed vulnerable deployments across 39 countries, 89% tied to government or military agencies. No exploitation in the wild or KEV listing was reported at disclosure.
