Multiple XSS vulnerabilities patched in WordPress plugins October 2026
Sucuri publishes October 2026 roundup of medium and high-risk flaws in Elementor, LiteSpeed Cache, and WooCommerce.
Stored XSS in LiteSpeed Cache WordPress plugin up to 7.9.1
The LiteSpeed Cache plugin for WordPress suffers from stored cross-site scripting in the comment parameter due to insufficient sanitization and escaping. Unauthenticated attackers can inject scripts when the HTML Minify option is enabled and a companion plugin renders stored comments into a raw-text context like JSON-LD. This affects WordPress sites using the vulnerable plugin.
What to do: Apply LiteSpeed's update for CVE-2026-116763. No workaround is provided.
| Product | Affected |
|---|---|
| LiteSpeed Cache | up to and including 7.9.1 |
Order-of-magnitude estimate by the model from install counts, market share and public scan data it knows; verify before quoting.
The LiteSpeed Cache plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'comment' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 7.9.1 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. This vulnerability is only exploitable when the HTML Minify option (O_OPTM_HTML_MIN) is enabled and a companion plugin renders stored comment content into a raw-text context such as a JSON-LD script block on the same page.
