Cameron John Wagenius, 22, a former active-duty US Army soldier, was sentenced to 70 months in federal prison and ordered to pay nearly $295,000 in restitution after pleading guilty to wire fraud, extortion, and aggravated identity theft. From April 2023 through December 18, 2024, while stationed in South Korea and at Fort Cavazos, he and others used a tool called SSH Brute to breach at least 10 organizations and steal call, text, and identity records. They sought at least $1 million in ransoms and advertised data on BreachForums and XSS.is. Prosecutors said he also tried to sell stolen information to a foreign military intelligence service; the case is linked to 2024 intrusions at more than 100 Snowflake customers, including AT&T.

Conspirators include Canada's Connor Riley Moucka and US citizen John Erin Binns, linked to intrusions at AT&T, T-Mobile, and the Snowflake campaign.

From April 2023 through December 2024, using the alias kiberphant0m, he and others hit at least 10 organizations, including telecom firms and more than 165 Snowflake customers such as AT&T, using stolen logins and a tool called SSH Brute. They threatened leaks on BreachForums and XSS.is, sought at least $1 million, sold some data, and used some for SIM-swapping; prosecutors said he also tried to traffic stolen information to a foreign intelligence service. Co-conspirator Connor Riley Moucka pleaded guilty in August and is due to be sentenced on October 27.

While on active duty, he and accomplices used an SSH brute-force tool and Telegram to steal network credentials, then extorted at least 10 U.S. technology and telecommunications companies, including AT&T and Verizon, between April 2023 and December 2024. They threatened to leak data on BreachForums and XSS.is, attempted to extort at least $1 million, sold stolen data, and used it for SIM-swapping. Accomplices Connor Riley Moucka and John Erin Binns were linked to Snowflake-related thefts affecting customers of AT&T, Ticketmaster, Santander, and other organizations.
