Synopsys and OpenAI signed a multi-year partnership to develop GPT-Synopsys, a specialized model intended to run Synopsys electronic design automation tools for semiconductor design. OpenAI will license Synopsys EDA tools, and the companies will share revenue and sell the offering jointly. The model is planned to interpret tool output and iterate on power, performance, and area, running on OpenAI infrastructure and integrating with Synopsys.ai and Synopsys Autopilot. Early customer engagements are underway, and Synopsys says customer design data is not used for training.
