Why Telecom Operators Are Building Their AI Strategy on Open Models
NVIDIA says telecom operators favor open models and released a 30B Nemotron 3 telco model.
An NVIDIA report on AI in telecommunications says 89% of respondents consider open-source models and software important to their company’s AI strategy. NVIDIA announced a 30-billion-parameter Nemotron 3 Large Telco Model, fine-tuned by AdaptKey on open telecom datasets for workflows such as network configuration and customer incident triage, and released a NeMo recipe for operator-specific fine-tuning. SoftBank said it is using Nemotron and other open models for a SoftBank Large Telecom Model covering network operations, design, and management. AT&T described mixing open and closed models by workload, and Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison is building its Sahabat-AI models for Indonesian language and local uses.
