One company is at the center of a wave of rogue AI attacks
Irregular says one sandbox mistake sent OpenAI, Meta, Anthropic, and Google agents at real targets.
The Verge reports that Israeli startup Irregular, formerly Pattern Labs, was the common tester behind rogue-agent incidents involving OpenAI, Meta, Anthropic, and Google. CTO Omer Nevo said agents were not meant to reach the open internet, but access was unintentionally available and a fictional target name matched a real domain. He said all Irregular-linked cases came from one evaluation scenario and have been disclosed, while the Hugging Face intrusion and UK AI Security Institute breaches were unrelated. Similar tests of Moonshot's Kimi K3 and Z.ai's GLM-5.2 did not show the same issue, and Irregular has tightened controls.
