In a Latent Space interview, OpenRouter co-founder and CEO Alex Atallah and AMP’s Anjney Midha recount how the multi-model router grew from the Llama, Alpaca, and Mistral wave to more than 10 million developers and over 10 trillion tokens per day. They describe why OpenRouter stayed a neutral distribution layer instead of adding fine-tuning or memory, and why Stripe acquired it. Atallah and Midha also argue that inference gateways will face token fraud, including attacks by autonomous agents, but cite no specific incident.
