French supermarket chains say cyberattack forced refrigerator shutdown
A cyberattack on French chains Intermarche and Cooperative U forced store refrigerators to defrost, spoiling food and sparking fires.
Major French retailers Intermarche and Cooperative U told AFP that a cyberattack forced refrigerators to defrost in roughly 150-200 Intermarche stores and nearly 100 Cooperative U outlets. Paris prosecutors confirmed the incident and said it also prompted fires. BFM TV reported that E. Leclerc was similarly affected, though the chain did not immediately confirm. Affected stores must discard fresh and frozen products; attackers, malware, and any ransom demand were not named.
