US Air Force members given over 6 years in prison for cyber theft of more than $2 million
Two U.S. Air Force members received 9- and 6.5-year sentences for a BEC scheme that diverted over $2 million from at least 15 organizations.
Chijioke Timothy Odimegwu (over 9 years, $366,617 restitution) and Harafat Mogaji (6.5 years, $995,680 restitution) were sentenced for a business email compromise scheme run from Dover Air Force Base. They phished employees for credentials, hijacked payment email chains, and diverted funds including a $1.7 million payment to an Iowa victim and a $720,000 wire from an Ohio victim. The men also stole and traded victims' financial account and card data before being caught by the FBI and local police after more than two years.
