Dutch police confirm arrest in ShinyHunters hacking investigation
Dutch police confirmed a 24-year-old Amsterdam man was arrested in a ShinyHunters hacking investigation.
Dutch police confirmed that a 24-year-old Amsterdam man arrested this month is being investigated in connection with the ShinyHunters hacking group. KrebsOnSecurity and DataBreaches identified him as Pepijn van der Stap, previously known as Umbreon, who was sentenced in 2023 to four years, one suspended, for hacking and blackmailing more than a dozen companies. He is due in Rotterdam District Court on September 29. ShinyHunters denied any link, and associates said a police recording from the Odido help-desk social-engineering call did not sound like him.
