Lightspeed targets $250M for new India fund, focusing on early-stage AI
Lightspeed is raising a $250 million India fund for early-stage AI startups.
Lightspeed is targeting $250 million for Lightspeed India Partners V, an early-stage fund focused on AI companies in India and Southeast Asia, with commitments already covering about 80% of the target. The fund is half the size of its $500 million 2022 predecessor and is expected to begin investing within two months over roughly two and a half years. Lightspeed, which backs Anthropic, xAI, Databricks, and India's Sarvam AI, says its regional funds have deployed about $900 million and global funds another $1.6 billion in the region. The firm manages more than $65 billion after raising $9 billion last December.
