French supermarket chains say cyberattack forced refrigerator shutdown
A cyberattack forced refrigerators at Intermarche and Cooperative U stores across France to defrost.
Intermarche and Cooperative U told AFP that a cyberattack remotely altered store refrigeration, forcing defrosting and disposal of fresh and frozen food. Roughly 150 to 200 Intermarche shops and nearly 100 Cooperative U outlets were affected, and Cooperative U's CEO said the disruption began Sunday night. Paris prosecutors opened an investigation into the large-scale attack, including reported fires and food losses. Media also named E.Leclerc, Carrefour Market, and Monoprix, but those chains had not confirmed it, and no attacker or ransomware was identified.
