Italy’s Foreign Ministry Under Cyberattack as Embassy Sites Come Under Review
Italy's Foreign Ministry says its website is under cyberattack, so far mitigated, while embassies are reviewed.
On October 8, Italy's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said its website was under cyberattack but protection systems had prevented disruption. The ministry is working with Polo Strategico Nazionale and reviewing Italian embassy and consulate sites. It did not identify the attacker or attack type, and said it will work with Romania and other EU states on proposals to designate actors behind attacks on Italian institutions. The report associates the incident with pro-Russian hacktivist group NoName057(16) and a DDosia target list that included the ministry and several embassy sites.
