Fifth of CISOs Take Time Off to Avoid Patch Tuesday
Socura found 22% of UK security leaders avoid Patch Tuesday as Microsoft's monthly CVE volume hits records.
Socura surveyed 500 UK cybersecurity leaders and found 22% had called in sick or booked holiday to avoid Patch Tuesday, while 41% worked overtime and 37% worked late. Twenty-nine percent reported significant anxiety the night before, and the same share said they became more irritable that week. Socura linked the stress to rising patch volume, noting Microsoft fixed a record 974 CVEs in September 2026, compared with 1,130 vulnerabilities published in all of 2025. Separately, 40% said AI automates mundane work and 37% said it helps protect core infrastructure.
